MD-Cops arrest healthy man, hours later he is near death in ICU, likely got a "nickel ride"

I just learned this term "nickel ride" just now reading.

I can say I had an experience that was quite shitty once. I've been handcuffed multiple times and in a cop car, but the worst time was when I was arrested for forgetting to pay a busted headlight ticket so they issued a warrant. One day like 2 years later I got pulled over for speeding and they executed the warrant. I was handcuffed extremely tightly and put in the back of one of those patrol cars with tiny back seats where it's all made of plastic I guess so it's easy to clean. There isn't even enough room to sit straight forward. My knees had to be at 45 degree angle AND the cuffs chain is so short that I could barely adjust my arms. I have no idea why handcuffing was even necessary when it was clear what the warrant was for. They didn't "ride rough" or anything but it was like a 20 minute ride like that and it was rough on me without any crazy driving.

So my full weight is against my tightly cuffed wrists pushin against hard plastic and my knees are pressed against the hard plastic separation plate. The only way to really be comfortable was if I laid almost in fetal position. It is like being transported like an animal

I actually had much more comfortable times the few other times I was in a squad car.

In that specific case it actually was an accident. I had a speeding ticket around the same time and I literally forgot about the other one. They could of sent me something in the mail to remind me but I guess it's not Uncle Sam's responsibility to do my paperwork. I wouldn't want to burden the taxpayer. Much better to just pull me over, call for backup, waste gas, strip search me, take my mug shot, then let me pay cash to immediately bail myself out and then call my wife, have her drive me 20 miles back to where my car was left, and carry on.

Someday I'll learn my lesson.

Oh, yeah, and the kicker was, I had to go to court since it became a warrant. So drove to court, had to miss work, then when I got to the judge he just dismissed the ticket.

System works like gangbusters.

Funny how this always seems to happen -- when a police brutality vid goes "viral" they find some reason to arrest the person who took the video. I'm sure it's just because he's a "thug" though ...

Videographer Kevin Moore filmed Freddie Gray’s last moments. On Thursday Moore was arrested by Baltimore police.

snip

Moore said that he had already spoken at length with two detectives in the Police Department’s Office of Internal Oversight and given them his video of the incident.

Moore filmed Freddie Gray being dragged to a police van and his final moments before his neck snapped.

Kevin Moore claimed that the police had been harassing and intimidating him after he went public with the footage.
Tonight Kevin Moore and two members of Cop Watch – Chad Jackson and Tony White were arrested.

It continues to amaze me how forward thinking this forum is. This wasn't really a story until the riots began, then the riots were the only story, not the police, or the nonviolent resisters.

I subscribe to Eagle Forum because I know Bobbie Patray, and because she publishes a weekly state legislative update. The articles posted by Eagle Forum are often two weeks or more behind this forum.

Y'all definitely have a knack for picking the important stories.

I just watched the press conference given by Baltimore City State's Attorney -- she announced arrest warrants and numerous charges for all 6 officers, the highest being second-degree murder for at least one of them (the van driver).

Other charges are false imprisonment, involuntary manslaughter, misconduct in office, etc. She also said the arrest was an illegal arrest, since the switchblade he had wasn't illegal.

How much do you want to bet their bail will be lower than the teenager that turned himself in for trashing a police car and that none will face life in prison like his sentence may carry?

So, they killed him for nothing.

What say you, of the "Freddie Grey did this to himself" crowd, now?

Fraternal order of police made an official statement saying the six cops did nothing wrong just a few minutes ago, that it will come out later. Figures.
