‘McCain-Romney’ Sounds Good to Romney

Elizabeth Holmes reports from Manchester on the presidential race.

In his first interview since dropping out of the race more than a month ago, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said he would be “honored” to serve as John McCain’s vice president.

McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, and Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts who spent millions of his own money on his campaign, attacked one another ruthlessly on the trail. Romney, who dropped out on Feb. 7 after a dismal Super Tuesday performance, fashioned his post-Iowa campaign around bashing veterans of Washington like McCain. McCain turned on Romney in Florida, suggesting he would seek a date for troop withdrawal, and the Arizona senator emerged victorious—seen many as the beginning of Romney’s demise.

“Politics is a rough and tumble sport, and you do what you need to do to win,” Romney said on the Fox News program Hannity and Colmes. “There really are no hard feelings.” Later, Romney added, “There are things I wish he would not have said, but he was successful, and I have to recognize that now is the time for us to come together and support his candidacy.” Romney said his fund-raising team–a group of successful business associates who out-raised many of the other Republican contenders–have been put to work on McCain’s behalf.

Mitt is a fantastic man and the choice is certainly his to make. McCain would make a grave mistake in not seriously considering Mitt for the ticket even though Romney is better-suited for things other than a mere Number Two slot. end quote

And watch out for one pro mitt romney comment.

You know, it'll work out.

The trick is to make sure McCain goes in flip, while Romney is flop. That way, every time they flip flop, they'll cancel each other!

Mitt will be the one protecting McCain. His heavily jelled, rock solid hair can stop a bullet and his face can deflect one too if he recently has had another botox.
