I think the point I (and a few others are making) is that you can disagree with someone politically and yet not condemn them as scum of the earth or as faking it. I seriously doubt Damon is faking anything. He has no need to. He could easily ignore politics and hang out in his Hollywood mansion all day and not give a shit.

Not everyone who disagrees with you politically is an asshole. I probably disagree with most of my friends and family politically. And we still love each other.

I can respect someone like Matt Damon who at least thinks about what he is advocating for, even though I disagree with him. The ones I do not like are the ones who do not or can not think for themselves and simply go around parroting what they hear on the news.
