With 25 days remaining until Kentucky's Republican primary, independent polling shows Matt Bevin surging among primary voters. The last poll listed on RealClearPolitics - touted as gospel-truth by establishment apologists and defeatists alike - showed Bevin 42% behind. To anyone working on the ground, our progress has been extremely evident all along... but the newest poll confirm our momentum is rapidly narrowing the gap. On the heels of FreePAC Kentucky, waves of volunteers from Freedomworks and tea party groups are joining the Kentucky liberty groups to make calls and go door to door for Matt, so the momentum will continue in the weeks ahead.

We are THIS close to beating the minority leader - a feat never before accomplished that would absolutely shake the political world to its core - and arguably fire an even bigger shot than when we first elected Rand. We have never had an opportunity like this. Also keep in mind that Rand Paul over-performed his polling numbers by around 10% in the KY primary - that is the difference our movement can make if we choose to.

As I've said all along, this election is in our hands. Status quo statist, or liberty ally? WE are the deciding factor. Donate and start making phone calls to ID and turn out voters today! And if you're nearby, come visit and do some door-to-door! We'd love to have you.

BOOM!! Bevin kids vs. McConnell

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- "Mitch McConnell is telling a bunch of lies about my Dad," says one of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin's daughters in a television ad debuting Tuesday on broadcast and cable outlets throughout Kentucky.

"Don't be fooled," Bevin's young daughter continues, her confident eyes looking into the camera.

Bevin, his wife, Glenna, and their nine children are all featured in the thirty second commercial which refutes the McConnell's campaign's characterization of Bevin as a "con man" with personal, heartfelt testimonials.

This happened too recently to register in the polling yet, but to me this is a perfect - and timely - response to millions of dollars and a year's worth of attack adds. While Rand's "False Witness" ad filled a similar purpose, the Bevin version might be one of my favorite political ads yet. Please click on the WHAS11 link and comment to drive it up the most viewed articles list - we can help more Kentucky voters see it, for free! Other networks and The Washington Times also covered it: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/apr/22/new-ad-matt-bevins-kids-say-sen-mitch-mcconnell-sp/

Also, watch recently uncovered footage of McConnell making the case for why we need to replace Kentucky's senior senator - and check out my update from the ground with pictures, links and info. Thanks for everything you all do for liberty!

Must be all the cockfighting supporters.

Even if he "Surges," He has to get everyone else and steal from Mitch. It's over.

There's an outside chance that we can primary BOTH the Senate and House majority leaders. Wouldn't that be something!

I forgot to mention... Matt Bevin's stellar performance in KET's US Senate Debate, may well have factored into the surge. I've had a lot of people mention how impressed they were... we were fortunate to get yet another candidate this dynamic in KY. For anyone wishing to sink their teeth into something of substance, I highly recommend watching it.

lol! What interesting timing.... After an epic week for Matt, and the very day the polls show him closer than ever... out come the establishment talking points. ;)

We are indeed stealing from Mitch... the last poll had him at 59%, and he is now down to 51% - his lowest yet. I personally talk to people making the switch just about every day. We're winning hearts and minds. Also, need I remind you that under the constitution, dealing with murder, violence, etc. are state issues? Rand and Ron would take the same position, albeit possibly worded differently. When did GOP become the party of expanding the federal government into animal rights? You think that will work on liberty folks?

BTW, did you know that Gurley Martin, who you were supporting before, withdrew from the race, endorsed, and is now campaigning for Matt? God bless him.

I don't support people based on others support. I do research. Matt Bevin continues to get caught lying. If you like him, great. Obviously, some of his staffers did not or he's not getting enough financial support to win.

I know that candidates have to spin things. But calling these numbers good news for Bevin is a stretch.

Seriously? Gaining 25% since the last poll isn't considered good? Having less than that to go to beat the most "powerful" Republican in the country and make history? Being closer to winning than Rand-endorsed Brannon's latest poll? What more could we realistically ask for?

Of course we'd all prefer to gain 43% and be winning outright. But my points are valid, and backed up with numbers. Rand's early polling showed him 11% behind and most of us were like "woohooo, we can actually do this!" Although we still had our fair share of doubters on the forums saying "The powers that be won't ALLOW Rand to win the election." We proved them wrong. When I correctly pointed out the one showing McC up 42% wasn't accurate, it was implied by the usual suspects that it was wishful thinking on my part, and it was indeed as every bit as dire as the establishment said. Most of the spin I see is on the negative side, and favors the establishment. Bewildering that we'd perpetuate that here. For my part, I wish success to every liberty initiative, and try never to undercut them.

I really hoped the liberty movement would make itself a factor in this election, especially since Matt is excellent on the issues. Not every state has good candidates running, and the liberty folks in KY are working hard and appreciate any support. I just hope we don't fall 10% or less short like we did for Moffett 2011, when we had the power to make the difference. Oh well, don't have a lot of time for forum debates. Back to work making it these gains happen!

Being down 17 points in late polls is a lot worse than being down 11 points in early ones. Plus McConnell is a lot more of a juggernaut than Grayson was.

I shouldn't have been such a Debbie Downer. I'd love to see Bevin win. What's the date of the KY primary again?

May 20th. We always knew it would be the fight of our lives. :) These numbers show we're headed in the right direction, and are encouraging to me. Will we have enough time though?

What all has he been caught lying about?

Whats that about?

Haven't been following this race. Got citations for that stuff?

I do have to say this does all sound pretty encouraging for bevin.

There is the latest where he's speaking at cockfighting rallies he said he didn't know was a rally for. Yet, he came out in defense of it at the rally but, has sense backed it up. I'm still confused how pro-fiscal responsibility people size up a man who thought it was ok to stand next to Max Blumenthal and take a bailout check for your bell companies fire. You could look at the MIT thing as an oversight but, the guy is constantly embellishing his credentials. Not to mention he's a late donor to Rand and a donor to Romney (Rand never gave cash so, don't go there). Then you add the fact he's got great ties to Southern Seminary which is a notorious in their wish to make every law that the Social Cons want...... Granted, I'm a dirty libertarian in the very sense most even on here do not associate with.

For what? To find a real candidate or another businessman wanting to be elected?

Damn Bevin has like 9 kids some of which are black? Or was that like a metaphorical "dad"?

The cockfighting saga ends any chance he may or may not have had. Game over!

This irritates me:
Four months ago Bevin was on TV with commercials attacking McConnell (in my area). This week he is nowhere to be found--TV ad wise. Meanwhile McConnell hits with 2 ads every newscast. Successful campaigns are planned from election day back!

for those not up to date on this, I dug up a link.

It's not popular to a lot of people in Kentucky. On March 29, "activist cockfighters" were summoned through social media to the Corbin Arena for a meeting to legalize cockfigting. So I put on a cockfighting shirt and went in undercover. The second speaker, American Gamefowl Defense Director Dave Devereaux, spent several minutes explaining why we were here.

"For the sole purpose of legalizing gamecock fighting at the state level," said Devereaux.

The next speaker, in front of more than 700 people, was Republican US Senate Candidate Matt Bevin.

"There is not a cause, there is not an issue, nothing we believe in that we could not bring to fruition if we turn out to vote," said Bevin.

When he was finished, he was asked a direct question.

"Will you vote to support the effort to legalize gamecock fighting in the state of Kentucky?" asked Devereaux.

"I support the people of Kentucky exercising their right, because it is our right to decide what it is that we want to do, and not the federal government's. Criminalizing behavior, if it's part of the heritage of this state, is in my opinion a bad idea. A bad idea. I will not support it," said Bevin, which was met with rousing applause from the crowd.

Bevin was followed by standing State Representative Richard Henderson of Mt. Sterling, who supported legalization of cockfighting in Kentucky, and then made a popular confession.

--snip--
We caught up with Bevin at a Louisville campaign stop. He said he didn't know it was a cockfighting rally.

"I don't personally support cockfighting, never been to a cockfight in my life," he said. "If you were there, you can tell, when I was speaking, were you there when I spoke?"

"I was there the whole time," I said.

"I was there to speak about why I'm running for US Senate. That's the same thing I do everywhere I speak," Bevin said.

"When Dave Devereaux got up before you, he said we're here for the sole purpose of talking about legalizing cockfighting in Kentucky. What were you thinking when he said that?" I asked.

"I honestly wasn't even paying attention. I was thinking about what I was going to say. I don't even remember him saying that," Bevin said.

I read him back his comment from the rally: "Criminalizing behavior, if it's part of the heritage of this state, is in my opinion a bad idea."

"You stand behind that?" I asked.

"What I stand behind is people's ability to examine their First Amendment rights to speak about whatever they want to speak about," Bevin said.

The guy is either a blatant liar or a totally self-important douche.

FTR: I support legalizing cockfighting.

There's a chance Bevin could be good. We know what we're getting with McConnell. It's really that simple.

All I see is not Mitch, that's all that matters.

I'd be fine with electing Hitler or Stalin instead of McConnell. They won't become the leader of the Republicans and sabotage Ted Cruz and the conservatives. Just like Crimes won't be able to sabotage them from the position of Republican leader.
