Stocks: Market Crash Looming

T,

Some airports in Newfoundland and Canada closed from ash right now. The jet stream did whip the ash around to NF and parts of Canada. It started curving around when it hit England and came back across.

The big one hasn't even blown yet. Take a look at this and scroll down to see what happened in North America.

So sorry to hear about the young boy. It is so hard to get over that.

it is unusually cold in louisiana. i think today's high is 68, normally this time of year we are in the mid-80s.

It was sunny and hot in Phoenix yesterday and is 68 and overcast today.

I am glad on the overcast as my BIL and I have to pick up our boat from getting serviced today and wash it down etc. I want it cooler when we have to do that. Waiting on him to call. We can't leave until he gets done with a service call at his house this am. Four trips across Phoenix and washing the boat down blows the rest of the day.

Some additional indication.

"Eyjafjalljokull, the volcano at the center of the crisis, is spewing less ash, but a second volcano began erupting on Monday and it was unclear if it would add to the ash cloud. Icelandic TV showed a large plume above the Hekla volcano."

I heard on a report today that everytime in the past Eyjafjalljokull erupted, it was followed by the eruption of the larger volcano Hekla. i'd by brave enough to say that Eyjafjalljokull is just a part of Hekla.

Wuh Woh

It's October, time for a crash. It's not that easy is it? Is it?

LOL! nice call even if timing wasn't perfect and with 1 caveat:

the 800 drop from 10,700 to 9,900 or 8% in Jan 2010:
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=^DJI#chart2:symbol=^dji;range=6m;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined

IS NOT THE SAME AS the 1000 ie. 37%(!!!) drop from 2,700 to 1,700 in 1987.

that's more in league with Oct 2007 14,000 to Mar 2009 at 6,600: ie. a 7400 drop ie. 52%.

T,

All three might go off before this is over. Two articles getting worse in the UK. UK air traffic control is one.

Helka isn't the big one. Katla is the big one. If it blows it could go on for a year or more. The three are connected and it might be a while but it has blown in past after the others.

I came across the Yellowstone Park volcano in checking. That is the biggest one of all in the world.

300 sq miles of volcano and 40K years past 600K years due on eruption. When that one blows it will make all others look like a piker. Earthquake activity picking up and the dome is rising there.

It it blows in my lifetime I am wishing the wind is heading E to DC. Do Not, I repeat, Do Not head South. All will need the West and South West for food if it happens.

Forgot to add the site,

Released to Near Silence, the U.S. Treasury 2009 Financial Report Shows Dire Course

"Hence, simple addition indicates that the total net position of the government is a whopping negative $57.4 trillion."

Good Catch and I have to admit, I never looked at the final annual report from the US Treasury... but coincidentally, just last evening, FOX NEWS' Greta Van Susteren, interviewed one of the scummiest US Senators on the Banking Committee, Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH)... That Senator from New Hampshire is sleaze... watch for him to be well rewarded when he leaves the US Senate in January 2011.

Greta asked him about the $57+ TRILLION in unfunded liabilities and Gregg's response was sorta like... "Well, we don't count the cost of the Defense Budget down the road..."

I couldn't believe this so-called "republican" said that... someone tell him, 2 wrongs don't make a right and Defense can be cut, Social Security and Medicare are obligations PAID FOR DIRECTLY FROM THE PEOPLE's PAYCHECKS.

Next I don't agree with the US Treasury's projection on Receipts/Revenues... they show a sharp "V" shape recovery and increase in the collections basket. But the exact opposite has been happening for 2008 through 2010 so far. Don't forget to lookout for a big Fiscal Propaganda 'Blitz' of receipts up in April 2010, (Which is normal for EVERY year... it's IRS TAX month) which the government loves manipulating or using the numbers game, carry forwards or kicking the can down the road if it's debt.

PS: Notice how the US Treasury show "Receipts flat for the next 75 years? Most Americans don't realized that Jimmy Carter and Alan Greenspan increased the amount paid into these so-called Public PONZI schemes by over 400 percent from 1977-86. Because it was unsustainable at the flat 2% level. Now imagine what they will have to increase on deductions and/or decrease on benefits. We're frigin screwed!

lol, they think their tax receipts are going to level off, rather than dropping like a damn stone under the weight of ever increasing taxation and regulation.

For the past 30 years the Program cost and receipts look like it's been hit with an 8.0 on the Ritcher Scale... then it's all to level off and smooth out?

Government creates the problem, then creates 2 new problems in trying to fix the one old problem and it grows exponentially... right up until they need another "FIX" by the Taxpayers.

Always happens... what a racket

Around Atlanta there is news every day of some group or another "protesting" cuts in funding.

So far, I've heard from MARTA, the artists, and some Georgia county's middle school sports afficionados.

Hard to stretch a dollar these days.

VC Money down 9% nationwide in Q1 2010

http://www.gazette.net/stories/04192010/businew180836_32568.php
Venture capitalist investment falls off in first quarter

Statewide deals down 42 percent to $61 million from fourth quarter
by Robert Rand | Staff Writer

Venture capitalists in the first quarter were less enthusiastic, both nationally and in Maryland, as total investments fell from the fourth quarter.

In Maryland, 14 VC investment deals totaled $61.0 million in the first quarter, down from 21 deals totaling $105.3 million in the fourth quarter, according to new data from the latest MoneyTree Survey from PricewaterhouseCoopers, National Venture Capital Association and Thomson Reuters. Nationally, VC investment fell 8.9 percent to $4.73 billion from $5.2 billion.

Peter Morici, a professor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, was less sanguine.
Following "two very tough years," the number of investors with venture capital has diminished, despite the recent boom on Wall Street, Morici said Monday.
"The Obama administration is not creating a suitable environment for rapid growth following a deep recession," he said. The quarterly decrease in VC is "another indication of slow growth with anti-business, anti-growth policies in the White House."
The administration's banking reform proposals won't "fix the balance sheets of banks," nor will its policies cut the trade deficit with China, he said.

"So now the economy will face a slow recovery and high unemployment," Morici said. "Obama wants to blame [George W.] Bush, but the reality is he's responsible now, too."

NJ - 198 of 358 school budgets failed today's vote. First time since 1976 that more than half have failed.
School districts had already planned to lay off up to 150 people depending on their size. Those that rejected will likely have to cut more. Still, the property taxes will go up.:mad::mad::mad:

Birmingham AL city council to cut 65 million from budget. Article says "City council approved plan to avoid a LOOMING budget deficit." HAHAHA cracked me up.

I guess I should add they have applied for a 47 million stimulus to make up for the cuts. What a joke. The crash will still be looming........
