Getting ugly again,

UT. "The Jordan School District announced budget cuts that will result in the reduction of between 250 to 300 jobs. No teaching positions will be eliminated in the 2010-2011 school year."

So, does that mean, the ones that can afford it the least likely will be let go? I am guessing yes.

"AT&T to lay off 140 KC workers"

NC. "Caterpillar, Inc. is laying off 121 employees at the Clayton plant, officials said Thursday."

Also, they are getting ready to try and sneak another one bye us all. Might they all rot in Hell!

"USA Drug will pull out of the Memphis market, closing all 17 Memphis-area Super D and Ike's Discount drug and retail stores." It looks like Walgreen to take over prescriptions and three stores. More vacant space coming up.

Borders might be getting ready to let more go.

poultry growers in VA discussing taking BK. Cost of everything going up except what they can get for a chicken.

Jobless Claims 457K vs. consensus of 455k. Continuing claims up 12k.

Closing 10 stores. 84 lumber in PA but stores in several states.

Montana Furniture Galleries closing 5 stores.

CA. "141 layoff notices sent to Chico Unified School District staff."

PA. "Owens Ill. "A glass container manufacturing plant's closing is final, which means more than 400 people will be added to the unemployment rolls later this year."
 
Don't see anyone hiring those numbers being cut.

AZ shops closing left and right today.

I am thinking we are not going to see much of a let up until fall. States, Cities and Teachers yet to be cut big time. Over half the big ones are still trying to figure out what to do on their budgets.
The Fed's keep throwing more and more taxes on and some just might have had enough.

A. Bush looking to cut workers at US breweries. Just great. I might as well switch to local brews now that A. Bush is owned outside the US. Local micro brews create local jobs. We have to figure out some way to keep jobs here with what is going on out there.
 
So, when does the market correct next? They've been furiously blowing this bubble ever since the last one, just prolonging the dead cat bounce. When does it pop?

I'm about convinced the reason late October is so commonly a time of correction because people who are antsy sell right after they get their quarterlies. If so, what do we have? A month? Will it be tax day?

I am no longer sure what it is going to take to top out. Being kept up by Bennie and the gang. You might be right on Oct. It is likely going to take something major to offset what Ben has been doing.

Greece might be the tipping point. Down to GP giving one week threats.

No mention of the BILLIONS in canceled 787 Dreamliner orders over the past year, especially the Billions in this 1st quarter of 2010. I'm sure Boeing WON'T announce the heavily discounted pricing and backroom deals in selling those few 747s/777s to offset the 787 failures.

BREAKING: Unusual price action continued today as the Dow closed around 10.7k on higher volume pushing down to the breakout at 10.767k. Commodities generally weak. S&P fixed settlement at 1,172.95, 1200 area is serious resistance as the point of last support before the 08 crash or about 11k on the Dow.

Traders at the scene commented - "Happy triple witch f'ers. The direction is still up. Buy the dips."

Austin TX foreclosures up 23 percent. North TX set new record. TX catching up late? Houston there is a problem brewing. Wait until NASA closed between FL and TX.

Same problems brewing in the UK. This is not over by a long shot. Look at the charts.

Something is going to give, and when it does it isn't going to be nice.
 
BTW, the Dow is now approaching the bottom of the still ascending wedgie from before. The bottom trendline is now at around 11.5k.
