March on 4th of july

Sounds good to me. July 4th will be too crowded and crazy and no one will pay attention to us. we definitely need to have a firm date by the end of next week though so people can start planning to make it.

The 4th of July would be downright stupid. The march could easily be dwarfed by Independence Day celebrators. June 21st is only slightly earlier and it's a little more relevant.

Agreed please quit posting different dates. It seems a vast majority have settled on either June 7th or 21st. Go with whichever one of those has the most support.

Ya if it's on July fourth Good Luck trying to get the MSM to cover it with any real depth, Also Why are People calling still calling it a March, Im pretty sure Ron Paul just said on a radio show today that he thinks A "march" is not really such a good idea around the streets of washington instead he is gonna be looking at places to reserve for a "Grand Rally" of some sort not the typical "Street march" that everyone is thinking. I think ya needs something more then a "rally" to get some good deep MSM coverage I would try and have some "Big name's" to come to the event..

Dr. Paul said he thinks it should happen within the next couple of months. That would strike me as being something before June. Like April or May.

It certainly couldn't be in July. I, like many others, am going to be running for office. We, in many cases, have to gather petitions of several hundred or several thousand (500 in my case, more or less for others depending on the office and their state requirements) signatures to be included on the ballot.

For me, the time this has to take place is July 1 - July 15. I fully intend to start campaigning in a significant way after Mid-April, so after that it will become more and more difficult for me to get to Washington for this march. I am very determined to be a part of it, but we have to be sure to select a date that will be most compatible with schedules of the MANY people who are also going to be running for office on a similar platform as Ron Paul, or the whole thing would be pointless. If we cannot get as many like minded people elected to office in every level of government from city council up through federal offices, we really can't make a significant difference. We can't expect most of the people in office now to change their point of view.

I think holding it to kick off the summer, Memorial Weekend, would be perfect. Kids are out of school then, people are beginning their vacations and the weather is perfect that time of year in DC.

I think waiting too long would be a mistake and holding it too soon would be as well. We have to get this just right because this is goingn to be BIG!!!!! (in every sense of the word).

to put something big on an already famous day is pointless, the point is to pick a day that ISN'T taken yet. As in make history and this being the day that we marched on washington to get our country back.

Having that on july 4th or on a famous day would do NOTHING but hinder the results.

Plus july 4th is my birthday and I already lose out on that "birthday" buzz just due to it being a holiday so I KNOW this march would really get lost if the media so wants it to be.

This will only happen if we have someone planning and getting everything ready LOCALLY in D.C. because we all saw what happened with mismanaged ideas like the blimp which those who ran it were happy to pull over 10k in income or more and whatever else "grassroots" efforts cost us money to pay for the "volunteer" efforts of the grassroots event.

If something gets put together by someone who KNOWS what they are doing then great but other then that I am not booking a damn thing til I see some REAL structure in the organization of this.

So is there any LOCAL people willing to take on this 3-4 month effort and get it going?

I have been reading many blogs, including dailypaul.com and we need to let RON PAUL decide what date. That way there won't be any confusion.

I emailed RP HQ, and asked HIM to set the date, as there are too many coming up with too many dates.

One concern I have about this march idea...consider how many people have voted for RP during this entire election. Even if half that number showed up for a march, it would be a miracle, but more importantly would that number warrant the attention of the media?

March and Rally for America

Since RP HQ will officially announce the date, and he said today that either Memorial Day or Independence Day could work, now leaning toward Independence Day...

Independence Day March and Rally for America!
Friday, July 4th, 2008, Washington D.C. Mall

Can you imagine millions converged on the Mall for the 4th of July festivities, a day of music, history and Patriotic speeches in the spirit of 1776, followed by a glorious fireworks display of the rocket's red glare, w/ bombs bursting in the air, giving truth to the night, our Flag is still there!?!

(Having said that, whichever day Ron Paul chooses I'm fully behind 1776%)

RP2008!

QFT. One of the Mods got in touch with HQ and they said they would set the date soon. Flagging this thread.
