Walsh's former district and he's endorsed her for it.
CAROL STREAM – Republican Congressional Candidate Manju Goel announced she has been endorsed by former Congressman Joe Walsh, who once held the seat Goel is seeking. In a written statement, Walsh said:

“I am excited to endorse Manju Goel for Congress. Manju is a limited government, expanded freedom patriot who can broaden the base of the Republican Party and attract like-minded minorities that the Republican Party has had trouble connecting with. Manju is the personification of the American Dream success story that if you work hard, take responsibility for your actions, and live within your means, you can achieve great things. Republicans and Independents of all colors and religions in Illinois’ 8th congressional district will love and support her. I am behind Manju and the Walsh Freedom Army and I will do whatever we can to help send her to Congress!”

Walsh’s endorsement comes on the heels of two other Illinois Congressman who have placed their support behind Manju Goel, Representative Aaron Schock (IL-18), and Representative Rodney Davis (IL- 13).

Her site suggests she's good on the foreign aid issue, supported defunding Obamacare and seems to have a focus on fiscal conservatism (no social issues are mentioned), not much information other than that. She has Tea Party support in IL. She mentioned she opposed Obama's intervention in Syria but it was somewhat unclear where she stood on the idea of intervention in general given she said Obama was leading from behind on the issue.

2-3 star liberty candidate, or another Marco Rubio?

I'm unsure at the moment, will need to email her campaign.

First off, I am glad to see Indians on the Republican side. I was getting tired seeing them continuously jump onto the Dem bandwagon.

Here issues page is kinda vague and bare bones. This concerns me - "I believe in calling a Terrorist a Terrorist.". Smells like neoconservatism. But then again, the foreign aid position is good. It's a Dem-heavy district. Even an Indian guy who ran as a Dem lost there to Tammy Duckworth. So if Manju wins, then good for her.

She does need to be investigated further. I'll be happy if she supports withdrawal from the wars and opposes NDAA like Walsh did.

Her site suggests that she's from that pro-BJP group based in Illinois. BJP ties could hurt her in the primary if running against Christians. As you said, the general will be a huge long shot.

I doubt it. Rightly or wrongly, Modi/BJP has an anti-Muslim image and if anything, Christians are going to appreciate that. No Christians here look under their beds for Hindu extremists, but they are all afraid of Muslim extremists.

Looks to me like she's not as liberty minded as her campaign site might suggest. She was a registered Democrat.

I think the better bet for liberty is the main Republican candidate, Larry Kaifesh

But it's up for you to decide. That's liberty, after all!

Thanks for the information. Looks like my emails aren't the only ones she's ignoring! The fact she has voted for Democrats in the past is extremely concerning.

Kaifesh looks like a good candidate and the endorsement of him by Jim Jordan could suggest he's a strong fiscal conservative. Out of interest, do you have any connection to his campaign? Just asking because you're new and the only posts you've made are regarding this race.

Manju responded, here it is:
Thank you so much for your questions, please find my my responses below.

1. Supporting defunding Obamacare
-- Supports repealing Obamacare

2. Opposing infinite detention of US citizens under the NDAA
-- A writ of habeas corpus is a fundamental right under our constitution and should never be abridged

3. Supporting withdrawal from conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan in order to focus on the issues facing us at home
-- Of course we should be focusing on issues at home, we have had a failed policy in the middle east for over 50 years.

4. Opposing arming the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood/Al-Qaeda rebels and any other form of intervention in Syria
-- Asked and answered in question 3

5. Opposing foreign aid to countries such as Egypt, Libya and Pakistan where people burn our flag
-- When I announced my candidacy I mentioned that we should not ever support countries that tolerate terrorism. Please also read a book by Dr. Richard Benkin on ethnic cleansing in Bangladesh.

6. Supporting an audit of the Federal Reserve system
-- Important agencies such as as the Fed need to have full disclosure.

7. Opposing unconstitutional legislation like CISPA that would reduce our Internet freedom
-- This has been part of the freedom grab under the current administration. Like Benjamin Franklin said : “People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both”.

We can always use help in shaping the future of the 8th Congressional District.

Manju Goel
Candidate Illinois 8th Congressional District

She seems fairly good. I'd say she deserves addition to the Liberty Candidates list as a 2 star candidate.
