Man does it feel good to be an Eagles fan right now...

Yeah. Never understood the point in watching a bunch of stupid jocks chasing a ball around. A child's game played by grown men.

I won't belittle your hobbies and interests. The appeal is something non sports fans just don't understand.

Son of Detroit: Opinion on Nick Fairley and the foot injury? I am crushed. I was going to go to a Lions game hoping they would have an outside shot at the playoffs, but now that he might miss the entire Pre-season, I am concerned.

It's rough, but luckily the DT spot is the Lions strongest position. The team can ease him back into things knowing that there's Corey Williams and Sammie Lee Hill who both played very well last season. Hopefully he'll have a quick recovery and be set to go around weeks 3 or 4.

That's going to be a tough division. On paper they do have a lot of winnable games the 1st eight weeks of the season.

I really think there are only two teams who are any good, the Lions and the Packers. I understand that the Bears got to the NFC Championship, but in all honesty, they may be the luckiest NFL team in history. Their O-Line is terrible, their quarterback majorly under-performs, they have no big play Wide Receivers, their secondary is a bit above average, and their special teams takes a hit with the new rules causing more touchbacks. They got there because of a Bye and the Seahawks pulling it out over New Orleans, otherwise, any of the remaining three teams would have taken them out. They might go 8-8, if they're lucky. And I live in Chicago. :)

EDIT: And yes, I did want to go on a Bears rant, thank you for giving me an opening.

Omg sports people. Why are some being so rude saying that people watching sports are not interested or versed in the reality of politics. That's just being fucking rude. Personally my best Ron Paul buddy IRL is obsessed with "DA BEARDS" oh my asdas das cutler blah blah. I will say without a doubt he is in the top 1% as far as intelligence goes and I know he donates the max to Ron Paul every time he can, and followed him around to a lot of events across the country in '07. So seriously quit being anti-social dicks trying to put yourself on a pedastol. Also Ron Paul is my el numero uno, and I don't watch sports. But I will not REPEAT, will not put down people over something so pathetic. We're all here for Paul, so step-off the god damn high horse folks. GO CARDINALS :::::::::))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Fair enough. But whatever your hobbies, when the major stars of those hobbies engage in sick, sociopathic behavior, they should be called out for it.

Football teams were started for the express purpose of training youths at Universities to prepare for the Spanish American war. In my experience jocks are the anti-social dicks. In school they were the upper echelon of dickheads, kicking the shit out of nerds and longhairs, molesting girls at parties with a few rapes thrown in.. In bars 9 out of 10 fights I have seen started were by jocks. The stupid people I know constantly have ESPN on. Rah rah siss boom bah go team go is the problem with the US and warmongering being allowed by the general public. Just cast the "bad" guys as the opposing team and the hypnotic paradigm is already past the cerebral filters. Nuff said.

At least you have training camp to feel good about. Savor it ... the feeling will probably end soon after the season starts.

"Bottom line is we’re ready," Jones said during an appearance on KRLD-FM after the Cowboys bowed out of the Asomugha sweepstakes. "We had an opportunity. We acted on it, and believe me we firmly acted on it until our eyes watered." -Jerry Jones

Bwahaha. I'm sorry, but it will take a heck of a lot for the Cowboys to compete in the NFC this year. I just don't see them being much of a force at all. They have a lot of talent, no doubt, but I see too many holes on their roster.. Best of luck to you, though.

For someone who is supposedly for individualism and rejects the notion of collectivism, you sure like to put people in groups. Everyone has the potential to assault someone, molest girls, or be a dickhead. Not just people who enjoy sports.

I played four years of football and baseball in high school, watch ESPN every day, listen to sports talk radio, and watch every single Detroit Tigers/Lions game on TV. I'm the biggest "jock" I know. I'm proud of that fact, I love sports. I've never started a fight, picked on anyone, or molested a girl. I wasn't a stereotypical dumb jock either, I had a 4.0 in high school and studied my ass off in school while still playing the sports that I loved.

Learn how to get along with people you perceive to be different, because we're all in this together to try to get Ron Paul elected. I really hope you don't start lambasting people at Ron Paul events if they mention the football game the night before.

I agree, but your original post that I replied to said nothing of the sort.

Isn't it old news about what Vick did? Why is there a need for people to still mention it? They want to "call him out for it"? For what purpose? Do you think you are telling people something they don't know? Everyone knows what he did.. move the heck on. There are much bigger fish to fry...

If this was your neighbor and not a sports star I bet you would not be saying that. The asshole should be run out of the game. We don't need to support sociopaths or hold them up as role models. It's surprising that people around here will remember something a politician did 15 years ago and call for their ouster from office, but if a sport star does something wrong, before you know it the whole thing is "old news".

Actually, yes I would say the same thing, and I have walked the walk. I happen to believe in that thing Jesus called "forgiveness." People make mistakes. It is what they do after those mistakes that defines them. Now don't get me wrong; I'm not talking about murder, rape, or child abuse (nothing sick and extremely serious). I am friends with quite a few people who did very immoral things in their past, but they now realize what they have done wrong and changed their ways. Also, I think your hyperbole, specifically the term "sociopath," is really not justified. In the areas Vick grew up in dog fighting was not against the social norm for many people. A politician affects my life and future. A sports star does not; I simply watch sports during some of my spare time for entertainment. You are throwing straw mans out and comparing apples to oranges. Again,(!!!) is it just possible that some people do not watch football for the moral integrity of the players in the games?

And on the subject of role models, do you think kids and people will learn from knowing about Vick that it is just fine and dandy to have dog fights and treat them very inhumanely? I think kids will learn from him that if you fall down and make mistakes it is never too late to pick yourself up and achieve good things--the message Vick gives to children all over the area at the numerous speaking engagements he does all year long. Your thought process is...I don't know the word for it....angry and illogical?....too emotional?
