Making a new grassroots website

Hey guys, I'm a bit new around here. However, I've been a part of the Rand Paul grassroots for quite a while, have lurked this forum everyday for a very long time, and followed Rand's politics for the past three years.

I've been astonished at the plans Rand Paul has developed for his presidential campaign (tax plan, economic freedom zones, term limits, read the bills, etc.) and I don't think this is a candidate that should be shying away other conservatives. It's why I want to develop a website that promotes his plans and political positions.

I've been web designing literally since I knew how to speak so I have quite a bit of experience in it. I have a lot of ideas for what the website would entail, but I don't really know where to start.

Should I start a Kickstarter, and should it be a tad bit for-profit as I am currently balancing two jobs and school? How do things work around here, would that be unethical?

No you should do it for free or don't do it at all.

...but like thats just my opinion, man.

Yes, you make sense. I'm quite busy though. Damn, this school year though.

Try doing a kick starter or ask around if anyone is interested in helping you. Create another thread in the grassroots sub forum if ya need to.

You could try kickstarter, but I can tell you right now you'll end up wasting a lot of time waiting to not meet your goal, judging by how well the RandPaulDigital kickstarter is going, which is an incredibly impressive effort. You need to create the site and consider the time and effort you put into it as your own donation to Rand's campaign. If you create a site and it happens to be the best thing since sliced bread, then maybe you can find people who will pay to help you advertise. But I think the moment right now calls for action and volunteering, not fundraising.
