Maddow Tears Into Rand For Denying He Questioned Civil Rights Act

Of course they are. They're neo-progressives to the core.

Rand also really, really knows how to play politics...

That remains to be proven. To date, he's only been elected to the Senate once in a medium size southern state.

I can already write you Maddow's script for October 2016...

'Are we, the UNITED STATES, really going to elect someone who dares to question the Civil Rights Act? Who came on THIS network and QUESTIONED the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT? Are we really going to elect a president who holds these positions? is that possible in America TODAY? REALLY? That we fought so hard for?

Joining me now to discuss these pressing issues is Reverend Al Sharpton and MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell... Lawrence let me turn to you...

'Rachel, Rand Paul sickens me. This is a man who was elected to the UNITED STATES SENATE in 2010 and dared to vote against Hurricane relief for those poor families in New York and New Jersey. Here is a man who filibusterd reasonable restrictions on the 2nd amendment in the aftermath of the most bloodiest shooting in American history. This is a man who is despicable. Indeed, despised all over America and Rachel, let me tell you it's inconceivable that he would be elected president... to the highest office in the land...'

To bad Rand didn't clarify his take on the CRA of 1964 in his Howard speech and inspire the community to destroy racism without the federal government messing it up and holding us back. Maddow would have been rendered storyless.

"Let me start with you Lawrence, has your 2015 sex change operation made you more sensitive to the female vote heading into the 2016 election? Or, has your model socialism been unwavering across gender barriers imposed by right wing discrimination and their hatred for women?.."

'Rachel, let me tell you... Rand Paul hates women. He voted against the VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT... how can anyone possibly vote against that? This is a man, a despiable man who wants to see women beaten, raped and chained to their beds. This is truly astonishing that he could be the GOP nominee in today's society. It would be a major setback for women everywhere if this man was in the White House... '

If you don't believe me that dear Lawrence O'Donnell could come out with such crap (or will come out with something similar to that) check this!

The hatred and loathing runs deep here. He really detests anyone who might be libertarian who challenges his left-right paradigm.

November 9, 2016 at about 1:00 AM when Nevada and Colorado go for Rand Paul:

"The citizens of the United States have just elected the most radical man ever to be president of the United States, Rand Paul, a man who created his own board-certification to practice medicine as a protest against the other licensing board. A man who questioned parts of the Civil Rights Act, a man who said universal healthcare is akin to slavery."-Rachel Maddow

"This is the end of labor as we know it. This is a guy who has no respect for workers' rights, a guy who wants to gut the country of its heart and soul."-Ed Schultz

"Rosa Parks didn't leave the front of the bus for this to happen....My friends in Chicago are already out in the streets. This is worse than Selma. When Joe Biden said we were going to be back in chains, he means it now. This is the day he was talking about."-Rev. Al Sharpton

"I think I'm going to have to join the Democratic Party now...I couldn't believe it when the Republicans nominated an anti-Semitic extremist who is the weakest Republican on defense since Robert Taft. This is a shocker and proof that American politics will never be the same again."-Steve Schmidt

Special guest David Frum- "I'm going back to Canada, the Republican Party hasn't listened to me for 12 years and I believe this will be the last Republican ever elected president. This is going to tear apart the country and we're going to be buying fruit from farmer's markets with silver nickels because the economy is going to tank so much...and someone like Rand Paul will just sit on his and his father's piles of gold and laugh."

It's not a lie. He always said he would have voted for the CRA. He made it clear numerous times he supports it and he has never wavered in his support of the act.

He questioned one title out of 10. So he supports 9/10th's of the Act and has never wavered in that support.

So it's not a lie.

Perhaps you ought to read and understand what he's saying.

Honestly, I'm not sure this was the best political decision for Rand, making this speech. And if he was going to do it, the speech could have been better. For sure there needs to be more outreach efforts into the black community, I just think someone like Ted Cruz would have been better. Rand comes off as too white, and compared to some of the speeches he's given, this one was mediocre.

I don't know how this helps him for 2016, that has to be his singular focus imho

Cruz is not very good reaching out of his base. He's a red meat base playing senator. Rand is much better at reaching out and appealing to independents and yes, these minorities. No other Republican would have done better than he did today .

He never questioned the whole act. He questioned a part of the act. An important distinction that the dishonest liberal hack will not make.

Wouldn't the fact that he questioned a part of the act be inconsistent with "Never questioning the act" though? Granted, I don't blame Rand for this, he's under a ton of pressure, but that does seem like at least a partial lie. Ron would have stuck to his guns without any apologies. And IIRC, Ron rejected the whole thing because of state's rights as well as property rights.

Ummmm...^yeah. That's the problem. He didn't at all qualify his current "I have always supported the civil rights act" comment....except to throw in "smoking" and "calories on menus" in a way most people aren't going to understand. A nice short answer would be "I've always been happy about the results of the Civil Rights Act, even though parts of it relied on federal power that is constitutionally questionable, has been abused in other venues, and has been recently undermined by Supreme Court Decisions. That said, we have bigger fish to fry going forward. I doubt any business in the 21st century would last long if it openly discriminated on the basis of race."

Perhaps your right. Still, I don't like him being the sacrificial lamb to take all the heat for something that was inevitably going to be really awkward. Put someone up there who doesn't have presidential ambitions.

Wow, amazing. That's EXACTLY what they would write :D

Do you have a time machine?

Did you even watch it? He did great. The intellectual group he was speaking to seemed to think so as well. If you get your news from Maddow of course you'll think Rand bombed it.

never misunderestimate the ability of these MSM hacks to twist facts, ask loaded questions, misinterpret the answers, and attack anyone who does not agree with their warped mindset.
remember, this is just 2013, imagine what will happen till 2014-15.

my advice to Rand, start talking about this issue, RIGHT NOW, in small doses. even if not asked about this.
once he does that, this issue will be de-sensitized in the people's minds. thus WHEN someone attacks him about this later in an interview when he has good ratings, things won't nosedive.
do not avoid this issue, take it head on.

depends on how you define 'questioning'.. in terms of introducing something to repeal civil rights act, no, he didn't "question it" if that's how you define it.. and that's what he meant by saying he didn't question it, as in he did not do anything in reality to modify the existing civil rights act.

if you wish to define it as having any doubts at all about unintended consequences the way civil rights act language is phrased, just like how some phrase "traitor" as writing a formality letter supporting texas incumbents, as ron paul did--hence some called him a traitor, yes, nobody is pure, somebody always violates the 'principle' somebody else came up with. keep playing with words, small men. this is why everything looks and sounds like a rand paul fetish nowadays, it's not that he's so great as much as you are so little
