LP Chair on Ron Paul being on the LP ticket

I'm voting for Johnson/Gray. Both have what I'm looking for in a candidate. Both support ALL the important issues I support. I'm also going to vote for the libertarians in lower elections. The guy running for my US representitve seat also supports Ron Paul and the same things as well.
So it's a matter of the "better of two good candidates"........ The Libertarian Party will still be around for the next election. Ron Paul won't.

it's pdf and not letting me cut and paste to text, so I will summarize the important stuff:

He said it would be "difficult" to get RP on the ticket. It could be done if eithor GJ or the judge stepped down, but that was uncharted territory.

The downside:

Maine, Mass, MN, NH, RI, Tn and WA do not allow stand-ins, and the period for qualifying is over. (7)

The deadline for changing filing is over in IA and OH (2)

The deadline for changing our filing in IL is Sept 7th(1)

In AL, if we change the Presidential candidate, we would need to start petitioning again, but would have less than a week to complete the petitioning. (1)

Texas has a "sore-looser" law and Ron Paul cannot be on the ballot as a Libertarian. (1)

So where would that put us as to electoral votes?
Could we do a write in campaign in those 10-12 states?

I think that it would be poor form for Ron Paul to even ask to be put on the Libertarian ticket. GJ/JG earned their spots on the ticket. They should come out and say that RP would be Secretary of State or some other high cabinet office. Then he should endorse and campaign for them.

Dr. Paul is a man of integrity, he chose his path knowing the likely outcome.

Yes, and the Libertarian Party is also showing integrity by saying they will actually LIVE UP TO THEIR RULES, imo.

Not to mention the fact that they suppor the same things Ron Paul supports and has invited us to join their fight. Which is our fight too.

We have lost Amerika, we are a slave planet, cattle for the slaughter. You have to understand what UN'ALIEN'ABLE God given rights means. They live outside of our time space thinking, they are here. How far down the rabbits hole do you want to go? Just look at any pics of the "Moon" and they are all black and white. The moon should not be a part of planet earth... it is a death star

I think the libertarians are missing a BIG plus of letting Ron take the slot if Gary agrees........ 10% threshold.... if they can hit 10% in a presidential election they will be allowed automatic access to most states ballots same as Reps and Dems for the next 4 years... something they have never had. Right now they have to fight for ballot access as a party every election from city dog catcher up to Governor.... then they would have an automatic slot and would be able to save the money and effort and not have to deal with the current obstacle that stops many from starting of as a libertarian candidate

People would also be a lot more willing to vote for them as a major party.

This could be a HUGE win for the LP! Right now, they can't even get into the debates.

Does anyone ever think that maybe Ron Paul is just tired of politics? And maybe just wants to retire..........

Ron Paul will never tire of proclaiming real LIBERTY as it was meant to be by our Founders, imo.

The Libertarian Party will still be around for the next election. Ron Paul won't.

The problem for the LP is that yes, they'll be around like they have for years, but will they ever break past the 1-2% threshold? I'm beginning to think they don't want to. lol

Indeed. This is their big chance. No libertarian has ever been as popular with the name recognition of Ron Paul. This is the LP's chance.

He will, some day. He ran for President, IF he would have been nominated, he would still be in the running and if elected, be President for 4 years at least. Let's keep it up, if he will.

I say do a write in campaign and give it all we got (like better than best) to win states ... when I say give it all we got - I mean give it all we got as a last ditch effort to get Ron Paul in the white house. The people still on board for Ron Paul 2012 have dwindled by the looks of things and gone to Gary Johnson ... but those of us who are still determined to get Ron Paul POTUS - we'll just have to work the internets, newpapers, twitter, bull horns, smoke signals, morse code like we never done before.

This is just my opinion, but I'm one of those die hards that never give up no matter how many times I "fail" .. I think it generates from all those failed recipes in the kitchen. LOL

I dunno - what other option do we have to get Ron Paul in that white house before he retires completely ?

this. I don't know if Texas will count write ins, they are the only one I know of where they say the sore loser laws impact Presidential candidates, and where it MIGHT even impact write ins. All that could be challenged in court, but it is a big state. However, he has polled well enough to get him into debates, but would need more polls that are current in my understanding of it. Debate requirements are important.
