Louisiana's Delegate count

whats with Paul getting 3% yesterday in Louisiana? was that just the Primary vote where no one got 50% ??

and was essentially meaningless as far as the actual delegate count goes?

Yes...turnout was null....I couldn't believe he got so little though...there's a part of me that thinks his votes go to McCain and McCain's to him b/c I honestly do not know of a single person who likes and is planning on voting for McCain....NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON....

so what now........Thirty-two of forty seven delegates pledged to support John McCain.....

I spoke last night with Matt Parker, state executive director of the Louisiana GOP. He told me that although all 47 delegates were officially unpledged, that 39 of them signed a statement that they would vote for McCain. He told me that 3 others had told him verbally that they would vote for McCain. The remaining 5 delegates were still "uncommitted." He said he was not aware that any of those 5 were leaning toward either Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee.

The status of "uncommitted" is not a mandatory position. It means that they are not required to commit beforehand, but they are certainly free to do so, which is what those delegates did.

I am curious whether the Ron Paul delegation elected anyone to state party offices, or whether they even tried. Anyone know?
