Louisiana results?

I always thought Parish as a prettier term than County. Good luck today!

The term Parish came from our french colonial days.. the catholic church was the sanctioned church of the time so the state was organized by Diocese and Parishes. Both catholic terms for church organization.

You know if this was a different type of election year, one where there was a clear front runner and elections were more spread out... that might have worked in their favor.

Luckily for us there are a lot of candidates, lots of states coming up, and most dont have enough man power to cover every base. But we've got one hell of a grassroots system that worked out for our side.

Agreed, I think we all should donate to torchbearer's congressional campaign as a "reward". As though freedom fighters down in LA are on the BALL and obviously motivated enough to make things happen.

In fact, I just did:
Receipt ID: 9S564573V2726710R
$50 for the LA freedom fighter.

FYI Brent, I got the following php error after submitting payment and hitting the return to your site link:

Ok, I'm forwarding the error to my webmaster. The donations are going through, just the return script is pointing to something that isn't there.
Thanks for the contribution! We have a good crew in Louisiana, good organization. I hope to use this grassroots power for a congressional run too.
I heard a rumor yesterday at the rally that Alexander wasn't seeking re-election. That would be huge!

Just FYI, I haven't been pushing my campaign because of our focus for Ron.
But I am looking at making an online push for funds sometime in late Febraury after most of the primary states are finished.

I will need $300,000 to compete. That should be easy considering the amounts raised for Ron online.

Brent,

Have you asked or sought an official endorsement from Ron Paul? I know Murray Sabrin up in NJ got one (but they have been longtime friends).

If I was you, I would.

And on a sidenote, do you feel YOU have the personal strength to do what Ron Paul has done for 20 years and NOT get bought by the allure of washington lobbyists and money. I WISH I could say with certainty that I could do so, and I would like to say that I could but at the same time, it would take an amazing amount of personal strength to do so.

We're not going to elect him for 20 years, we're going to elect him for TWO years. :) If he fails to deliver, we choose someone else. So, don't fret. This whole movement is about accountability, not faith. And Brent has done enough here to pass the accountability test, enough for a two year grant.

For the first 11 years of my political career I ran as a Libertarian knowing that I would loose... but I did that out of principle. I could have easily ran as Republican and won.
I was tempered in Libertarian Flames, to take pride in my principles.

I switched over to Republican to support Ron Paul in the delegate process resigning my position on the LALP central committee.
I gave up my delegate spot for the good of the team and took an alternate spot.
I sacrifice for the message daily, and have so for 11 years...
receiving the Torchbearer award twice for top activist in the state.

I don't have 20 years of voting records to back up my sincerity, but my actions should speak on my behalf.

Oh, I'm not calling him into question, that's why i have donated. :)

But it was really more of a personal/philosophical question. RP is definitely a diamond in a field of coal and was wondering if Brent has pondered this question to himself. I would LIKE to say that I could do it (and I am a good person overall); but when I am really honest with myself, I don't know if I could say with 100% certainty that I could resist the temptations for sooo long. But like you said, he would get 2 years to prove it! :)

Ahh... If we vote him in and he steps outta line, we'll kick his ass!!!!! :)

Update before the first vote is cast.

Ok, check out the delegates ballots here: http://www.lagop.com/

I was moved to alternate because we had 18 delegates and all we needed was 15.
In the alternates race in district 5, we have 15 ron paul alternate delegates on the ballot out of a total of 19 alternates.
Which means.. worse case scenario, we walk away with 11 Alternates in our district. 11 votes at the state convention.

We've already won 7 alternates in district 2, won unopposed. if only we could have filled all the delegate slots in district 2, but i think that is our worse district. people aren't very involved there.

We've already won 15 alternates in district 3. won unopposed.

We've already won 13 alternates in district 4. won unopposed.

For a total of 46 alternates already won before the voting even starts. (out of 95 alternates total) suppose to be 105 but 10 slots will not be filled because no one ran for them

Soo... This sounds pretty good. But is it REALLY REALLY Good? As in we win LA Good? Just curious. Great work.

It means we've already won half of the election. We've won majority of the alternates which means when louisiana sends 41 delegates and 41 alternates to the national convention, we know that those 41 alternates will be Ron Paul's..

Note- we have the advantage on the delegate side because we are the only ones to have a complete slate of delegates in each district. Doesn't promise a win, but puts us in pole position.

Man, I really dont want to sound too optimistic. But I have to say that the meetups here in LA have done an incredible job. Personally, I have stayed out of the meetups and have involved myself thru connections and gentle persuasion of a lot of people I have contact with. But the full credit goes to the grassroots/meetup folks.

I'm gonna predict that Lousiana will be Ron's first victory.

<Plugs ears>

But the alternates won already are only alternates to the state convention next month, right? Meaning that they have to show-up to take the place of any delegates to the state convention that don't show-up, and will then vote to select who the NATIONAL delegates and alternates will be, right?

hmmm... i was thinking alternates voted for alternates in each district... like 15 alternate delegates in district 5 would choose 3 among them to be national alternates?
