As you know, the race to find the GOP candidate for our next president is closer than it has been in memory.

What amazes me and disconcerts me, however, is how the party seems to be escalating its opposition to Candidate Ron Paul.

The current debacle regarding your state's caucus carries more magnitude than on face value; it represents a potential fork in the road for the Republican party at large.

Ron Paul is the one candidate who embodies all traditional Republican values and has the record to prove it. His success so far has been remarkable and represents both a strong yet slumbering core of traditional conservatives in our nation and also a great appeal to new generations of American voters.

Despite being continually portrayed by the press as the party's "longshot" candidate, it is notable that he has defeated every candidate in the early primaries, including Giuliani in every state but one, won the majority of nationwide straw polls, and was the top Republican fundraiser last quarter.

And yet heading into the ever critical Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses, Louisiana has jeopardized the legitimacy of its caucus by mishandling its stated process. The Louisiana GOP should immediately tally and include ALL votes cast on caucus day.

In this day where seemingly every election requires an asterisk by the winning candidates name, Louisiana GOP should take a firm stand that whether the party goes the road of Republican values or a merger with Democratic values, Louisiana did its part by at least legitimizing its caucus as expediently as possible -- before Super Tuesday.
