Los Angeles is Burning!!!

I just heard that the islands of Indonesia suffered a 7.5 earthquake. Hopefully, the unthinkable won't happen to SoCal with the current wildfires.

I highly doubt it's "thousands" of acres, do you have references? And if you go to Sequioa National Park you would understand the difference between clear cutting and letting forests burn down. The Sierras actually NEED fire to maintain the ecosystem. This is necessary, clear cutting is not. Big difference.

I wasn't really defending clearcutting. I was pointing out that the State of California is incapable of preserving/maintaining the forests in owns. So environmentalists shouldn't go around bashing clearcutters nor asking for laws banning clearcutting when the State of California is incapable of preserving/maintaining the forests in owns. Btw, most of that clearcutting happens on government-owned land and is leased to logging companies.

It took me about 45 minutes to drive to Costco which is usually a 2 minute drive. With the freeway closed, there was gridlock on surface streets in all directions.

This really made think that if something big were to happen in So Calif., there's no way people would be able to get anywhere.
