I am looking for suggestions for a place to go for 5 days that is within 6 hours of Hartford CT.

Looking to have a full hookup pull thru campsite with a 70 foot space.

Hoping for a relaxing, off the beaten travel, tourist traps but hoping for some amenities like decent restaurant and something interesting to do.

Thanks

Right down the road from me and right on the lake.

All the National Park CCC sites along the Kancamagus highway are gorgeous, but no hookups.

This one is my favorite:

Ellacoya, which is right near Laconia and Weirs Beach is nice state park and one of the few NH state parks with full hookup services.

Here's three places in York, Maine, right over the NH line, 15 minutes off I-95 and close or right on the ocean.

Here's one more from York, Libby's, which is right on the ocean.

If you want to really b e in the middle of nowhere, Umbagog is nice, I've stayed there, and it does have hookups, but space is tight, you'd have to decide if you could fit your rig in.

I think my wife decided on Searsport Maine. We are not going until this upcoming weekend for about 5 days.

I appreciate the tips. I am certain one of them will be a future destination. A couple years ago we went to Concord NH per your recommendation and had a great time at a B&B.

It is hard to get away because we care for my wifes parents and she is in late stage Parkinson's. The fifth wheel we acquired has wheel chair lift and wide doorways.

About a month ago we traveled to Laramie WY to see and meet some of my grandchildren. Children as old as 5 that I have never met.

Had plenty of issues with tire blowouts and overheating of F-450 with 6.0 that was/is supposedly bullet proofed.

My wife works full time and closer trips are going to be more realistic.

IF you or anyone else thinks of more places, please add to the list. I am not interested in hitting tourist traps or if I do go I want to go in off season.

Thanks again for the reply!

Searsport is nice...beautiful midcoast Maine town.

I'm not sure what interests you have, but here's a couple of things that I enjoy:

I'm a member here, this is one of the best railroad museums in the country, I think.

WISCASSET, WATERVILLE & FARMINGTON RAILWAY

A trip out to Vinylhaven Island is always a good way to spend a day.

https://www.maine.gov/mdot/ferry/vinalhaven/

There are lobster boat "charters" in the area, where you head and catch your own on two hour or so trip.

Owl's Head transportation museum is interesting.

So is the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.

Maybe some of those might interest you.

Sorry to hear about your MIL and your troubles on the road, hopefully your Maine trip will be more trouble free.
