Live video feed of BP's damaged riser

Heard someone for BP mention during an interview that they were watching a live feed of the riser so did a little search and found it.

I believe today BP is trying the "Top Kill" procedure. Might be interesting to see them succeed or fail in real time.

If it says "waiting for video" the plugin is not working.

What is today.... - Wednesday, I think? ... Guess I'll grab a few beers, turn on C-SPAN and watch "BP's damaged riser" in realtime.

Oh fucking boy...!

THey said they managed to insert a 1 mile long tube into the pipe that allowed them to siphon off some of the oil. Seems like maybe they should insert a mile long funnel shaped tube that would seal the gap between the pipe and the tube as it went deeper.

I really can't see how the dome thing will get any kind of a seal.

The problem with sealing it is that there is too much pressure and it blows anything they seal it with.

Maybe they should just get a huge pipe threader.....:)

Considering the pressure of the water alone, I'm amazed they can get anything to even move down there.

I'm thinking this 'top kill' action will stir up sediment and eliminate any chance of seeing anything on the video...will see i guess...or not.

Its a good thing the federal government capped their liability at $10 million.

I'm glad that people on this forum can now see how greed prevents a Free Market Society from working properly.

yeah, they paid off the government. this is why we are screwed because they capped our settlement for our accident as well(which didn't even cover the cost of an accident that was no fault of our own ! lobbyist(special interest) should be shot or at least be tarred and feathered!!

Close up shop on the front company called "BP", start a new company called "BO" (british oil) and since almost all the assets and oil sites were leased by some holding corporation to BP, you just change the lease papers to the new company and away you go!

"At BO, we stink!" :)

These guys have BILLIONS, you don't think they have lawyers to set things like that up?

They knew this might happen someday, they've seen it before with exxon.

The same people will be back, full strength, in a short period of time, mark my words.

Capping this well will not work IMO It will be a few more months before this gets fixed. A hurricane any time soon I would think could ruin plans to protect areas and may push it way inland. This is a huge mess.

I hope it does work but I would bet money it does not.

You can, short BP.

This video shows how they are trying to plug the leak. They show a graphic of how they are going to send the "heavy mud" into the broken valve thing to try to plug it.

I think that's what we are seeing happen on the live feed, every once and a while it goes all blurry and that might be when they are pumping the mud in, also there's a lot of dirt like piled up stuff just lying there in front of the camera, which wasn't there earlier.
