AM70 HOUSTON

If you miss it, he typically archives the show by the hour it aired and it will be posted by the end of the day. So this would be the 9am or 10am podcast

http://www.ktrh.com/cc-common/podcast/single_page.html?podcast=michaelberry

If you have never listed to Mr. Berry, he is somewhere between a tea party/neocon/ron paul supporter. He flames alot about how bad both parties are (good), but has some war mongering tendancies (bad) similar to Hannity but not nearly as bad.

Transcript of Ron Paul Radio Interview with Michael Berry on AM70 HOUSTON

Obamacare, in effect, upheld. Our guest, Congressman Ron Paul from Lake Jackson. … What do you make of this ruling? Are you surprised?

Not really. I think when the case was heard before the Supreme Court, I had said to the disappointment of some of my supporters, and I said "I don't expect much. It'll be messy. You can't depend on the courts to straighten out this mess." And it looks like that's exactly what happened. I mean, it is a disaster, really. But there's been so many … I mean, we've been going in the wrong directions for so long, you know. For thirty years since the early seventies. That's forty years, we've been getting government more and more involved whether you have Democrats or Republicans in charge.

So they don't look at this on principle of, you know, how do you provide for services and goods? Is it through the voluntary means or through mandates and dictates in an authoritarian society? And, unfortunately, the conventional wisdom is that government has to be a central economic planner in just about everything. Medicine is the worst. So we shouldn't be shocked. It might shake up the country. Maybe something good will come of it. But not today. Nobody can see much good coming from this ruling.

See Ron Paul on Supreme Court healthcare case: ‘I suspect they're going to rule it constitutional’ — from March 26, 2012.

Congressman Ron Paul is our guest. For the average person in Lake Jackson or Montana or Miami, how is this going to affect their lives?

Well, immediately probably not at all. When it goes into full effect, it's going to cost a lot more for health care. It pushes prices up. This idea that the government can come in — nobody's even talked about this but — how can they come in and put a mandate on insurance companies and say, you have to insure, you know, your kids until they're 26 years old? Or how can you call it insurance if everybody is put under the insurance no matter what the preconditions are?

You might wanna do that, but you can't call it insurance. So the people are going to have less quality care. It's going to cost a lot more no matter where you are. Now if you're in the category of where you want everything for free and you qualify and you're willing to wait in long lines and take less in quality care, I guess people will say "Oh, well, I'm going to benefit."

But for the most part, businesses are gonna suffer and costs are gonna go up. It's not gonna be good for the economy. My guess is that this won't be good for the markets either. Even today as a reflection of what was found.

See Ron Paul on Health Care Ruling: No Matter What Happens Tomorrow, the Patient Is Still Going to Suffer.

Congressman Paul, you've spent much of your career as a professional as a doctor. As Dr. Ron Paul, speak to me from a doctor's perspective what this will do to their practices.

Well, there's going to be a lot more people drop out of medicine because it has gotten to the point where you have to spend so much time and money and energy just trying to follow the rules, you know, whether it's Medicare, or Medicaid, insurance forms. There was a time, not too many years ago — I certainly practiced under those conditions — most people came in and my first office calls were $5. People wouldn't for a minute think that $5 you should have insurance for it.

But, today, everything is complex. And it's very, very costly. This makes it much more so. And I think where the biggest gripe will be is that they will see further the erosion of the doctor-patient relationship, and to me, that was the most important thing in medicine.

And that is why we should always think about how … if government is going to go and mess up a segment of the economy like this, pleeeaase consider the fact that people who want to and assume responsibility for themselves can opt-out and assume responsibility for themselves.

But this means, today, this ruling means opting out is just about impossible. And we should always have a chance. In education, if they made it absolutely illegal to opt out of the public school system — you couldn't teach your kids at home or have a private school — I mean, that would be a disaster. But opting out is a principle that we could live with in spite of all what government does. Of course, everything should be voluntary in a free society. There should be no mandates whatsoever.

Congressman Ron Paul is our guest. Dr. Ron Paul as well.
For people who are frightened of the words 'death panels', does Obamacare have death panels?

Yeah … and it's a rationing of care. And the 'death panel' term is used to grab people's attention. And those are very, very strong words. They would never consider the fact that that's what they are. They're not gonna have a panel and say, "Well, who's gonna die and who isn't?"

But in reality, there's some truth to that. Because with government ration, government medicine, you always have rationing. Demands goes up. Prices are lower than they should be. And then, there's a shortage. And when the shortage comes, since the market's not regulating it, somebody has to do it. So the bureaucrats come in. Not the doctors, not the patients, not the families — who should make the decision — who gets transplants and who gets on dialysis. But demands get too high and people start living into their eighties or nineties, then it's only government that's going to determine, "Oh, no! We don't have enough machines. So we will have to decide who gets the dialysis machine or whatever care that they need."

So if you don't get it, then you die. So the death penalty [sic] gets people's attention. But I think the people who are involved in this, aren't honestly … they honestly don't think, "Well, I'm gonna decide who should live and die." But, really, that is what they're doing because they're rationing care.

Listen to the complete interview with Ron Paul on Michael Berry.
Other topics include the TSA, Audit the Fed bill, and the Republican National Convention.

BONUS: Are we gonna see you at the Republican Convention and in what role?

Well, there's a lot of uncertainty there because … Because of my independence, you can understand that I'm not exactly welcomed, you know, with an independent voice where, you know, they take taxpayer's money of $18 million to coronate somebody. And you're not supposed to have a discussion or a debate or talk about the platform or what we believe and the pros and cons, and have a little contest going on.

So, no, it hasn't been ruled one way or the other. I have been offered essentially nothing. There is nothing assumed. One thing for sure is that we will have a presence there. We will have several hundred delegates and hundreds of more alternates. And we will have a lot of people who will be required to vote for Romney who will be actually our supporters. We will have a presence there. In the day before the convention starts, we are going to have our rally just in case I don't get a chance to say anything on the floor of the convention.
