Congresswoman Musgrave Opposes Wall Street Bailout
Refuses to make American taxpayers bear the brunt of Wall Street greed

Washington, D.C., Sep 23 -

Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave today released the following statement regarding her opposition to the proposed Wall Street bailout:

“For years, Americans on Main Street have heard about the lavish excesses of Wall Street. We heard about their mansions, exotic cars and above all, record profits. Now the party is over and the same bankers are asking working families across the country to bear the consequences of their excess and greed. I refuse to burden families already struggling with soaring energy and food prices with bailing out investment banks that made bad decisions.”

Virginia Foxx (5th district NC) is opposed to the bailout (friend)
Senator Richard Burr (NC) is in favor of the bailout, this changed since I talked to an aide on saturday (traitor)
Senator Elizabeth Dole was opposed to the original form of the bill, and her aide just said she is "reviewing the latest bill"....so I'm not sure what that means

Same here, but I'm in CD-9, Rep Sue Myrick's office says that she is also 'reviewing the latest version of the Bill'.

I got the distinct impression that both Myrick and Sen. Dole will vote for this Bill, saying that it has been altered to 'sufficiently protect the taxpayer'.

MusGrave needs help with her reelection. She is in a tough race.

Garrett, Scott - Against - Friend. Just called on to confirm and on Cspan now against it

Cubin- WY (R) I just called her office and an aide stated that Cubin was reviewing the 100+ page document that was thrown into her lap earlier in the morning. We'll see how she eventually votes. Hopefully, she'll vote no on this monstrosity. At this time, status unknown.

Gohmert, Louie TX 1st 225-3035 Against. Friend. on Cspan strongly opposing, and I confirmed with his office.

Joe Barton (TX) -- his office says he's still voting against it. Friend.

Yes, but his website only says he's "leaning against" it. I've called his office twice and gotten the same message you did. But I've got a bad feeling he can be swayed, especially for a second- or third-generation negotiated package.

Remember, this is the same man who, at the TX Republican Convention, bragged about how he had "saved" his constituents from dangerous Chinese products by restricting their trade.

A few more calls won't hurt Congressman Barton.

Lincoln Davis - "Still reading the bill to see what's best for the 4th district"

I told his aide that I want him to look at the big picture and NOT vote for it.

I asked her what public opnion is running and she said "a little of both but a lot of people think like you do sir.

Within the hour mostly likely we'll have the list of the crooks we must try to throw out of power. This is the litmus test. This vote will separate the crooks from the principled, regardless of where they are on the political spectrum.
