Lindsey Graham’s Clear Path + Jeb Bush hosts fundraiser

Graham’s Clear Path
South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham will probably cruise to reelection in 2014.

Lindsey Graham was supposed to be the Dick Lugar of the 2014 cycle. Instead, he may be the Orrin Hatch. Even tea partiers in South Carolina admit he probably has a smooth path to the nomination and then to reelection.

Graham has consistently irked conservatives. He voted to confirm Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. He supports the DREAM Act and was one of the chief architects of the 2007 immigration legislation that was widely derided by conservatives as an amnesty. The Club for Growth — which helped topple Indiana’s Lugar and Utah’s Bob Bennett — announced last fall that Graham would be a top target for the group.

Yet South Carolina tea partiers admit that chances are good Graham will face no serious opponent. “Lindsey Graham’s got an easy path to reelection,” glumly admits Colin Lindell, founder of the Palmetto State’s Aiken County Tea Party. “People would love to see someone challenge him, but the problem is there is no real serious contender who can gather the support.”

“There’s nobody viable to go up against him,” agrees Allan Olson who founded the Columbia Tea Party. (He is no longer an active member, but he remains a tea partier.) “He’s got too much of a war chest,” Olson adds. Indeed, Graham has already collected approximately $4.5 million.

Also, Jeb Bush hosted a fundraiser for Lindsey Graham:

this is having the vibes of an uphill S.C climb like john dennis's bold forays against ms. nancy pelosi
that may only be a springboard into the distant future? please say it ain't so, rEVOLUTIOn people!!!

I don't see how Graham could lose but that doesn't mean we shouldn't challenge him, Senators serve four-year terms in SC - so Bright can lose horribly and still be re-elected again in 2016.

He still could be if the liberty movement can get focused and organized for South Carolina state Senator Lee Bright.

Plus this article could be spin designed to scare off potential challengers.

we need a consistant gameplan that does not pit 2 good LIBERTY contenders
directly at each other as SENATOR GRAHAM has a merrie re~election cakewalk

If Bright can get The Club on board (already saying they will oppose Graham) + rally these defeatist Tea Party groups + Liberty movement + conservatives all over the country, he can raise enough money and be a force.

He needs to get a professional website up and start campaigning if he's serious... and also try and court these outside PACs. Immigration will be happening soon and could be a rallying cry and an opportunity for him to establish himself nice and early

I think that's what he's been doing. There was an article back in December where it said he was already talking to fundraisers. If Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and Liberty for All get on board, it'll get interesting.

They could be putting this release out because they're scared. Keep in mind the guy being interviewed is no longer affiliated with the Tea party. He probably cashed in and called it quits after 2010.

If Bright can put the effort in and go round the state meeting primary voters at GOP meetings and start rallying Tea party groups then he should be able to build himself up as a credible challenger.

Don't forget several county GOP's have censured Graham so they will be interested to hear Bright and there will be no shortage of volunteers and people who can hang up signs.

We need Karl Rove to endorse Lindsay and start bashing Bright. That will get the grassroots on our side.

if there is some way to communicate this very idea to the "mittsters" just so we can have the issues
laid out to the voters of south carolina, this would be way cool as a prequel to 2016's merrie madness

Bright better be making the rounds to GOP meetings in addition to just raising money. I'd like to hear Capt Lou's take on this and its viability.
