This sucks big time!! I was hoping she would go away after spending all that money and losing. No chance for Schiff if she runs again.

IMO, the bigger issue is the fact Blumy brought in Obama to campaign for him for the 2010 midterm election.

Sorry, but if Obama was still a net positive this year, of all years, it should be painfully obvious that no "liberty" candidate will ever win in Connecticut.

After what happened in Massachusetts, I think we might be better off forgetting about states like Connecticut. Some people will never learn.

California, plus Connecticut, Massachusetts and that clusterflunk of states are dead to this midwesterner. :P

The vast majority of the money Peter raised and spent came out of his own pocket or he personally solicited from his wealthy clients. It is also presumptuous to assume that the comparatively small amount of money he got from the 'grassroots' would have gone to another candidate if he had not run. Personally I would've just kept my money as opposed to giving it to any of the candidate's you listed.

As far as McMahon, I would be surprised if she ran again considering her high negatives, and I doubt she could beat Lieberman, whom the voters of this state seem to have an inexplicable devotion to.

If McMahon runs again, she is guaranteed to win the primary. I like Schiff, you like Schiff, but we simply cannot afford to waste millions of dollars better used elsewhere on him again. That money could have gone to electing Buck, or Miller, or Hotstettler, for that matter. The lesson from this year is not to devote our energy to unwinnable races (like Schiff and Dennis).

Hah, nice try, but the problem is that I would never, ever donate to Buck, Miller or Hotstettler, and most people here wouldn't do that either.

We will, however, donate to principled liberty candidates.

What are the possibilities of a house race?

I don't think Peter would. He is making tens of millions of dollars a year managing his company. Giving that up for a Senate seat is already a sacrifice for him. I can't imagine him staying away form his business for a measly House seat. I personally think that he is more effective now than he would be if he were in the House. As a Senator he would have a loud bully pulpit but not near as much if he were in the House.

Don't forget about a possible independent run by Leiberman. When he ran as an indy last time, the Republican only got about 10% of the vote. However, I believe that CT voters dislike Lieberman now, so the Republican might get more.

If Schiff runs, it could bring out more primary votes for Ron Paul and vice versa for Schiff.

What are the possibilities of a house race?

I think that many liberty candidates would fair much better if they didn't set their standards so high. Schiff could definitely win a House seat in CT, but that all depends on the candidate. If candidates lowered their goals just a bit, we would have multiple candidates in state houses, state senates, and the Us House. (schiff, lawson, kokesh, etc.) Whereas, now we have lots of money spent and no results...

I don't think she will run again and if she does the Connecticut Republicans would have to be flat dumb to choose her again. If she can't beat Blumey, she has no chance. I say "RUN PETER RUN!"

I like Peter, but the US Senate is too high of an aspiration for him.

I'm not a fan of almost all of the candidates in the OP, but there were good, honest liberty candidates who had a shot and we let them down by tossing money to Schiff when he never had a chance. If he runs again in 2012 and we give him a ton of money again, well, that is another reason why this movement can't gain traction. We would rather give a million to a no-hope Senate candidate than elect 15 people to State Houses/State Senate or one to the U.S. House.

If we'd sent the money that Schiff got, to Lawson. Lawson quite likely would have won.

Oh well.

Not all of it, obviously, but surely we can agree roughly 20% or so would have and 80% could have kept their money and spent it on something else. That is the equivalent of minimally one or two liberty candidates.

I donated $500 to Schiff with ZERO regrets and would happily do it again. Pete articulates the message of economic liberty as well as anybody and was very influential in convincing me that true freedom is worth fighting for.

To those who say that Peter's run was pointless and a waste of this movements money...so it was pointless for for Ron Paul to run in 74 because he lost and then lost again in 76. Was it pointless for Ron to run for president in 88 and 08 because he lost???
