Several Republicans weighing a 2012 presidential campaign plan to be in Illinois next month to celebrate President Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday.

The Illinois Republican Party has landed commitments from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN John Bolton for a Chicago event on Feb. 5 — the day before the centennial anniversary of the 40th president's birth in Tampico, Ill. The Chicago Tribune first reported on the confirmed attendees.

The party has also invited Gov. Haley Barbour (R-Miss.), former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska), former Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.), former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.).

1 - He's dead already.
2 - Do any of these other jokers have a direct quote about them from Reagan's own lips?

Reagan endorsed Ron Paul. He would've placed the the people attending the event in the same category as communists. Gingrich actually voted for the creation of the Department of Education, while Reagan ran on abolishing it.

Reagan is a Republican god. Trying to portray yourself as a "Reaganite" is political posturing- hoping that some of his perceived greatness will be rubbed of on them- rubbing the belly of the Buddah as it were.
