We're lucky to have 102.3 FM in Oklahoma City. The signal is poor, not in stereo and it doesn't cover much of the city, but it is a beacon of liberty that delivers content that is completely liberty-minded and free of the massive corporate control that is every other radio station in town. I hope they remain on the air for a long time.

Sailing, while I believe I understand your point, I disagree in that I'm not big on not doing stuff. I think the more the better. And I think a medium like radio would be the best way for me to personally contribute. I'm going to look into starting something, on the net or however.

Here in Baltimore, Maryland, we are blessed with 1090 AM WBAL. Ron Smith, a man of integrity and reason, had a popular talk show on there before he passed away last year. He was very much a libertarian, and had Ron Paul on his show more than a few times. His influence still lingers on that station with all of the other local talkies. Especially C4.

Maybe we could create a radio station in a box, for either outright purchase at cost, or submit a plea that can be voted on in concert with a chip in for sponsoring a radio station.

I am sure there are people in our movement that can produce circuit boards and components could be bought in bulk and passed on at cost (well, there is the postage), but we could make stations cheaper than anything else out there.

As to coverage, it's limited but the FCC says that's per station. So just get a bunch of stations and conference call um!

I'm sure many of you know that Free Talk Live is one of biggest pro-liberty radio shows around along side of Jason Lewis and Jerry Doyle. So I'd say taking existing liberty shows and expanding them on to different affiliates, especially in bigger markets, will be easier than making new upstarts (not saying this isn't worthwhile). FTL has 105 affiliates and runs live 7-10 pm est, every night of the week all 365 nights per year. What makes them unique is that they offer a caller-based, panel discussion that is different than the usual monologue. Listen to a few of their shows (live or podcast for free) and see if it's something you'd like to see other radio listeners to hear, then help them get on affiliates in your area by checking out Talk Radio Affiliate List.
