Do they have a central bank yet?
Does the Vatican have a Catholic branch there yet so there can be satanic rituals yet?
Underage prostitution is legal there right?

LIBERLAND WANTS TO CREATE ITS OWN CRYPTOCURRENCY & ACCEPTS BITCOIN FOR STATE BUDGET

Vit Jedlička, a member of the conservative Party of Free Citizens in the Czech Republic, has declared himself the President of Liberland, a nation upon terra nullius between Serbia and Croatia.

Founded upon the principles of freedom, Liberland has received tens of thousands of applications for citizenship in a 3 square mile country where taxes are optional and military is non-existent.

“The objective of the founders of the new state is to build a country where honest people can prosper without being oppressed by governments making their lives unpleasant through the burden of unnecessary restrictions and taxes,” states the announcement of World’s newest country.

“To live and let live” is the country’s motto. “We have the busiest immigration office in the world,” Jedlička quipped to TIME.

The country is located on the west bank of the Danube between Croatia and Serbia, land which has long gone unclaimed because of a border dispute.

We sat down with the world’s newest unelected President, Vit Jedlička, for an exclusive interview for our readers.

Interview with the World’s Newest Unelected President Vit Jedlička

Where did the idea for Liberland come from?

From the fact that most of the states in Europe take too much from the citizens and provide very poor services at the same time. That there is an enormous number of people and companies who instead of working and creating wealth are living off government subsidies and welfare.

What is terra nullius and how much land is terra nullius on earth today?

Very little now. My friend, the King of Northern Sudan, has taken over the last piece of land between Sudan and Egypt. But if you check Wikipedia you will find some more.

Is there any historical example of a nation being formed based off terra nullius?

Basically every country which started on a place where there was no other government was created this way.

Cryptocurrency communities have a lot of interest in Liberland. Why do you think this is?

Because we accept bitcoins as donations to state budget and we also plan to have a free market in currency. We would like to set up our own cryptocurrency in the near future.

How well aware is the Liberland leadership of Bitcoin?

We actually started our own cryptocurrency a year ago Emoticoin. It was successful for a long time but then we lost interest in the project. It is still alive, however.

LIBERLAND WANTS TO CREATE ITS OWN CRYPTOCURRENCY & ACCEPTS BITCOIN FOR STATE BUDGET

Thanks for keeping us all updated on this story. Who knows where this thing will lead those seeking maximal freedom! It is certainly an interesting experiment & if he makes the right moves (& I don't necessarily claim to know what all of them might be), it could be a significant step ahead for libertarianism.

OMFG he's not opening the borders and letting in absolutely every jerkoff who wants to be a citizen!11!! Teh anti-liburrrrty!1!!!111

It is his property, so he has the right to decide that.

A situation exhibiting "anti-liberty" would be if the governments of Serbia/Croatia began regulating the border between his private property, and the private property of other individuals that are adjacent to his.

Which is the situation we have here in the States.

LIBERLAND WANTS TO CREATE ITS OWN CRYPTOCURRENCY & ACCEPTS BITCOIN FOR STATE BUDGET

A "country" that is a haven for laundering money for drug cartels and terrorist organizations... Que drones in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Followed by the 82nd Airborne...

Really, the only thing that would be worse is if they discovered oil.

This is such an amazing idea, I think it will be a success no matter what. Yes there are all kinds of ways it could get squashed, but that doesn't make it a failure. I'm saying let's put all our efforts into building it. If it works, this could touch of a revolution of sorts, people creating small countries all over the place. If it doesn't work, we can learn a lot of what we need to do next time, and get all kinds of ideas from brilliant free-thinking people.

Maybe Ron Paul can consult for this new country.

Hey, a rapper is going to do the national anthem, at the very least this will be one helluva party!

I applied. I'm hopeful, but not delirious.

Dudes and dudenesses.... Seriously? I am from Croatia and this is not happening. Dude is not serious about it. Read again my first post in this thread. My farm is bigger than that thing.

Roflmao (dont know what it exactly means but it seems appropriate)....
You cant just claim other peoples/countries lands. He had no claim whatsoever.

This is allegedly unclaimed land by either Croatia or Serbia, so he can claim it without impacting other people's land. Since it's by a river, it's possible to develop it as a casino and resort area ala Monaco. Security and justice issues could be feasibly managed via a private security firm and arbitrator, under a private contract all residents, workers and tourists would have to sign to be there. They don't even have to build a road into or out of the area, just a few helicopter pads and a river boat harbor, to shuttle people to/from wherever.

No. It is not unclaimed. It is disputed in long political battle between Croatia and Serbia. This is result of wrong translation( "ničija zemlja"="no mans land" translated literally). But it is wrong translation. I would be among first ones to move there if there was 1% chance that this could be successful...if "Lliberland" wouldnt be under 3 meters of water every year...

Why do you say the dude is not serious about it? Your farm is also likely bigger than Monaco. So what? It's a micronation.

They can easily fix the flooding with a little free market ingenuity.

It is no man's land. That doesn't mean it's doomed. Many nations started in no man's land. The fact that even CNBC covered this tells me there is something to it. Even if it never takes off, the planning alone will be invaluable to liberty.

I'll tell you what. There is a better chance of creating a libertarian republic in Liberland than there is in the USSA.

Yep. And if all of what you mentioned starts to happen, you better believe they will build roads and high speed trains to and from Liberland in a heartbeat. Nothing like the profit motive to make things happen. :)

Because there is no chance that this is happening. Come on guys be serious. I wish that this thing happens is but there is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of this happening.

It is no man's land. That doesn't mean it's doomed.

You didnt read what i wrote. It is not "no mans land". It is wrong translation. It is disputed between 2 countries.

It is all fun and games but dont paint this as something serious.

There are already many small countries that are tax havens that are helping create global tax competition amongst governments & increasing freedom in a variety of other ways but yeah, the more the better I guess :D
