Dear jdcole,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the Senate's gun control debate. I especially appreciate your patience awaiting a response while we have been setting up our offices in Washington and at home in Texas. It is an honor to represent Texas in the Senate and respond to your concerns.

As you know, President Obama and Democrat lawmakers have called for sweeping restrictions on gun ownership. Because I oppose measures to prevent law-abiding citizens from exercising their fundamental Second Amendment rights, I voted against Senator Harry Reid’s bill, S. 649. I believe we should focus intently on preventing gun violence, not gun ownership, and we can do so by enforcing the many laws already on the books. In particular, mass murderers and violent criminals must be prosecuted to the fullest.

Preventing gun violence is critical, so I joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to introduce a comprehensive alternative measure that would bolster resources for combating gun crime and enhance school safety, while preserving the Second Amendment. Though this proposal received 52 votes, Senate Democrats filibustered it, leaving the unavoidable impression that their efforts are more about imposing gun control on all Americans than on seriously addressing gun violence.

Thank you for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about any issue important to your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of Texas.
For Liberty,

so I joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to introduce a comprehensive alternative measure that would bolster resources for combating gun crime

So what infringements did that propose?
The Grassley-Cruz proposal would reauthorize and improve the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), increase resources for prosecutions of gun crime, address mental illness in the criminal justice system, and strengthen criminal law by including straw purchasing and illegal firearm trafficking statutes.

Ah,, more resources to the Police State and more restrictions on ownership (Veterans disarmament),, and that pesky private sales "loophole".

More Federal Government and MOHR MONEY.

Fuck the Doubletalk.

GOA rates Cruz as an A+. He is one of only 9 Senators that have an A+ rating, and GOA is touch as nails when it comes to the 2A.

I don't give a damn how they "rate" him.

This proposed legislation speaks clearly for itself. Did you read it,, I did..

it adds to (piles on) existing unconstitutional laws,,and does nothing to protect rights.
It add Millions to Federal Spending and mandates as much or more in State spending.
It does nothing to overturn bad law.or protect citizens from intrusive background checks nor address Restoration of Rights.

It gives Way too much power to the Psychiatric Industry. A danger that was made clear in the history of other Totalitarian Governments.

Read it..http://www.grassley.senate.gov/about/upload/HEN13499.pdf

I will not support that shit,, nor anyone that agrees with it.
