Let’s get John McAfee some media attention

Now that John has received a positive site rating, let’s help get something going for him. The idea here is to pump the media to have them get John on the air; with his background he is a known entity and he has a good story.

Two parts are needed in this plan: a running list of people to send messages to (via e-mail, twitter, fb, etc.) and some talking points.

To get started on the talking points…
  • John just recently published his phone number and said not to call. This is an interesting story that could be covered as a lead into his campaign.
  • Some of the right-wing tough guys may want to take a crack at going head-to-head with John. I’m sure he’d be game. A message could be posed as a challenge.
  • Glenn Beck has talked about third parties, has he talked to John yet?

John has had some press of course, including Larry King, so we’ll want to exclude those. See his youtube:

I checked the internet, there is a surprising lack of McAfee memes.

Sounds like you know where to start, I'm going to start trying to hit Reddit with McAfee, so memes would be great!

McAfee has many strengths when it comes to a game of publicity, we need to make the most of it. He does not shy away from his story or his life, he owns it. He is very clearly a libertarian, he is likable and he has a strong brand and name recognition. Better yet for the game of politics, McAfee brings a new fear to the table, a fear I believe to be credible, cyber warfare. It's clear our government is behind the curve on the Internet and cyber security, McAfee gets the Internet and technology, he is a real hacker. We can sell him as the first Internet president, equipped to wage cyber warfare in defense of this country and our freedoms. He can explain how the NSA made us less safe and how their back doors resulted in the biggest hack in government history with the Office of Personal Management, compromising 22 million government and family personell records. This hack essentially means every government employee is compromised and can be blackmailed. He knew the FBI could hack the iPhone and can explain that it's about our government making our technology less secure. Everybody in the United States knows what a virus is and how damaging it can be, Y2K hype was huge, the government as it is will let us be hacked by the Chinese or Russians and allow the USA to get a virus that can cripple our country. McAfee alone can fix this, he is the the antivirus our country needs to protect itself in this cyber war we are already losing.

As a note to the rest of the libertarian supporters who may support Johnson or Peterson. Johnson had his chance following the biggest libertarian movement in election history, he failed, he captivated no one and I say this as someone who voted for him. Peterson has his heart in the right place, but he is not ready, not experienced enough and we can't sell him. McAfee sells himself and is very captivating, this is a major strength in a movement full of stand off people who might be a little to knowledgeable.

Thanks Bryan for getting this thread started, you beat me to it.

Brilliant! Never thought I would want to do that or hear it again after this:

I noticed his social media page (at least on facebook) is not very active. Perhaps we could create some support pages to get the message out to a wider audience.

"Install McAfee"

Yeah, there's potential there, but you have to be careful. The software company's reputation isn't the greatest since John left in '94.

But if you wanted to, how about... McAfee - the TrustedSource.

How is he on economics issues? And by that I mean, economics 101. What does he think about the minimum wage, and student loans? I'm seriously asking, as I haven't had time to research.

On his website he has a hashtag:

#Uninstallthesystem

Uninstall Mcafee, I did that awhile back.

It seems to me that having some credible polling outfit poll McAfee against Hillary/Trump (like was recently done for GJ - 11%) would be key to establishing credibility for McAfee as a LP candidate - both for securing the LP nomination and providing a springboard for more MSM coverage.
