The last months there have been some stories on US Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas not disclosing expensive gifts from his “friends”.
A much bigger story (that never got the publicity it deserved) is that Knight of Malta and Opus Dei, Leonard Leo, selects many of the judges that get nominated by Republican politicians (including Clarence Thomas).
Leonard Leo is also associated with the 3 currents Republican presidential candidates that get the most publicity – Trump, DeSantis and Ramaswamy.


A guy named Leonard Leo is on the board of directors of Opus Dei’s Catholic Information Center located 2 blocks from the White House. Leo is also of the legal association Federalist Society.
Leonard Leo is reponsible for making president Donald install 4 US Supreme Court justices – John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.
Leo “highly recommended” none other than William Barr, who was nominated by president Donald as Attorney General.

Trump appointed the “intensely anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ group” C-Fam for the US delegation to the UN Commission on the Status of Women. C-Fam is headed by Opus Dei’s Austin Ruse.

In 1982, Pope John Paul II put the secret society Opus Dei under the sole jurisdiction of the pope.

Leonard Leo is part of a network that was financed by Charles Koch and Robert and his daughter Rebekah Mercer.

Robert and Rebekah Mercer, some of the biggest funders of Trump's campaign, invested nearly $20 million in the Donors Trust in 2020. Donors Trust raised over $350 million in 2020 and gave out (only) $180 million in grants.
Donors Trust is not required to disclose their (dark money) donors.

Leo ally Carrie Severino (president of the Judicial Crisis Network) is listed as secretary of the 85 Fund.

Before Stephen K. Bannon joined the Trump administration, he received a seven-figure salary working for Reclaim New York. Lying Donald's campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was a founding director of Reclaim New York Initiative (the lobbying arm of Reclaim New York).
Reclaim New York was originally housed on the same floor of the same NYC building as Cambridge Analytica.

Not even when Leo’s friend Clarance Thomas got pushed into the spotlight repeatedly about “forgetting” to disclose the expensive gifts he (and his wife Ginni) received.

In one of those great examples of "charity", the billionaire Barre Seid in 2021 donated his electronics manufacturing company worth $1.65 billion, Tripp Lite, to the newly-established radical right non-profit Marble Freedom Trust. Tripp Lite was then sold to the Irish company Eaton, evading capital gains taxes on the sale.
One of the first donations Marble Freedom Trust made from this $1.65 billion, was $41 million to the "dark money" Donors Trust.

Marble Freedom Trust lists member of CNP, Opus Dei, Sovereign Military Order of Malta, judge selector Leonard Leo, as its Chairman and Trustee.
The phone number listed for Marble Freedom Trust is the Palm Beach, Florida phone number of the same Neil Corkery that has been heavily tied to (other) dark money groups.

Barre Seid has been reported as the funder of the 2008 conspiracy theories that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the US and is a Muslim. It isn't clear to me whether this was done to harm or boost Wall Street lawyer Obama's chances to become elected...

Cambridge Analytica was also connected to John Bolton’s two Super PACs. Bolton’s PACS received 5 ads to run for candidates Thom Tillis, Tom Cotton, and Scott Brown. In 2018 Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint against Bolton’s Super PAC for making unreported contributions, including advertisements, to Thom Thillis’ campaign. It isn't clear why Tom Cotton and Scott Brown were not included in this complaint.
This suggests that Cambridge Analytica’s data was given to Bolton’s fundraising firm.

In 2017, John Bolton (before he became Trump’s NSA) was awarded “The Guardian of Zion Award” by Gatestone board member Ingeborg Rennert.

Other leaks reveal that "For America" used the same data during the 2014 mid-term elections to target donors.
Also the NRA used the same psychographic targeting messages as the Bolton campaign.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was probably also a Cambridge Analytica client.

On 21 January 2010, the US Supreme Court voted to open the floodgates to unlimited sums of corporate money in campaigns, including one Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Just 8 days later, Foley & Lardner partner Cleta Mitchell set up the non-profit Liberty Central Inc. on behalf of Ginni Thomas, Clarence Thomas' wife!
General Counsel for Liberty Central in 2010 was Sarah Field (formerly of the Charles G. Koch Foundation), while former Koch lobbyist, Matt Schlapp, was a founding board member of Liberty Central.

Liberty Central received $1.478 million from dark money donors in 2009 and 2010.
From 2011 to 2020, Ginni Thomas received “salary and benefits” from Liberty Consulting. Clarence Thomas didn't list a range of salary and benefits for his wife from Liberty Consulting, but instead lists it on his financial disclosure under “Investments” with a “book value” of $100,000 to $250,000 in 2019, which drops to $15,000 to $50,000 in 2020.

Foley & Lardner lawyer Cleta Mitchell, was also involved in the voter fraud fraud, acting as legal counsel when Donald Trump on 2 January 2021 called the Secretary of State of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, and told him: “I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break” (for which he was indicted).

Cleta Mitchell also sent an email to the lawyer John Eastman, to write a memo justifying assigning electoral votes to Trump, even though he lost the popular vote in those states

Foley & Lardner employed 3 attorneys that worked as lobbyists for a Koch Industries affiliate, Ray Carey, Jason Childress and Kathleen Walby.

After Donald Trump hired a new lawyer for the Mar-a-Lago FBI raid legal hysteria, Chris Kise, his name was completely removed from the site of the law firm Kise worked for, Foley & Lardner.

The following article insinuates that supreme court judge Clarence Thomas and his wife, Ginni, are corrupt. They were given lavish all-expenses paid for vacations by Republican donor, billionaire Harlan Crow almost every year for more than 20 years without disclosing them.

Harlan Crow was an early patron of the anti-tax group Club for Growth and a long-time board member of the AEI and Hoover Institution think tanks.
Crow also donated half a million dollars to a Tea Party group founded by Ginni Thomas, who received a $120,000 salary.
Clarence Thomas even went to the notorious Bohemian Grove with Crow.

Leo’s close relationship with Thomas goes back to 1991.
Crow has a painting of hanging out with Thomas, Leonard Leo (who leads the Federalist Society) and Mark Paoletta (chief counsel to Vice President Mike Pence and general counsel of president Trump’s Office of Management and Budget).

In 2014, Harlan Crow’s Savannah Historic Developments LLC. purchased an old single-story home and 2 vacant lots down the road on a residential street in Savannah, Georgia that he bought from... Clarence Thomas and his relatives. Thomas "forgot" to disclose this as required by a federal disclosure law passed after Watergate...

Harlan Crow's company paid $133,363 to Thomas and his relatives, which looks to be more than its market value.
In 2013, Crow bought a vacant lot and a small house on the same block for only $40,000.

Because he's such a wonderful friend to single black elderly women, Crow hired an award-winning local architecture firm to begin $36,000 of improvements on the house shortly after he had purchased it.

Two Harlan Crow-affiliated groups have had several cases before the supreme court.
The Enterprise Institute (AEI), which once gave Thomas a $15,000 gift, filed at least 3 briefs in the Supreme Court. The Center for the Community Interest filed briefs in 8 different Supreme Court cases.

In 2008, Clarence Thomas sent his grandnephew Mark Martin Jr., who had been living with him for a decade, to Hidden Lake Academy, and Crow once again covered the $6,000 per month bill. Crow reportedly also had paid the tuition for Mark Martin at the Randolph-Macon Academy in Virginia.

In 2011, Clarence Thomas corrected 13 years of forms, on which he had wrongly claimed that his wife Ginni had no outside income, when she'd been paid more than half a million dollars by the right wing Heritage Foundation.

After US supreme court judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. asked conservative donors to contribute to the Supreme Court Historical Society, one of those donors reportedly received advance information on a coming decision in the Hobby Lobby case.

The last story is more business as usual, than evident corruption. Basically the family of all (high) politicians and judges can profit from their family's connections.

The trip was paid for by hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer and Robin Arkley II, both were also significant donors to Leo’s groups.
In June 2005, Arkley also paid for a vacation of Supreme Court judge Antonin Scalia to Kodiak Island.

In 2014, the Supreme Court ruled 7-1 in favour of Singer’s hedge fund with Alito voting for Singer.

In 2017, 9 days after he was appointed Supreme Court judge, Neil Gorsuch and his associates sold a property in Granby, Colo., from which Gorsuch made between $250,001 and $500,000.
Gorsuch "forgot" to disclose that it was sold to big law firm Greenberg Traurig (that included former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani) that has been involved in at least 22 cases before the Supreme court.

As a lawyer at a Washington law firm nearly 20 years ago, Gorsuch represented oil billionaire Philip Anschutz.

The little known Philip Anschutz is another American right wing conservative billionaire, who has a huge influence over the US Republican party. Phil Anschutz is the friend of Tom Barrack (him again!), Donald Trump’s buddy.
Anschutz’s AEG is one of the biggest concert organiser in the world, which is ironic as Anschutz is supposedly extremely anti-LGBT.

Philip Anschutz first got his lawyer Neil Gorsuch appointed as a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
More recently Anschutz pulled some strings (and “invested” some millions) to get Neil Gorsuch a seat on the US supreme court.
