Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but BJ is going to need at least $250,000 AND Bill LuMaye trashing David Price at least three times a week to stand a chance. Plus, you're going to have to try to get the neo-cons on board.

I used to live in that district, and was actually the Libertarian candidate for Congress in 2002.

The RNC will not do anything to help BJ unless he shows he has a chance. They look at NC-4 as a Democrat district and won't target it. They're going to try to hold NC-8 (Hayes), and retake NC-11 (currently Dem - Shuler).

The RNC didn't help my Republican opponent until they were afraid I was going to embarrass him. (There was an unscientific poll done where I had 17%.)

Thanks for the information, the more we have from the ground and from people who are or have been involved, the better.

The money is the least problematic of all the things we need to do to get BJ in. We need to do whatever it takes to make this happen.

The least we will do is take a big chunk out of David Price's winning streak % #s. Even if B.J. loses, he can run again =). But let's not underestimate. This may sound weird to you, but I almost got Mike Huckabee to endorse him. Besides, donations may not be as good as we'd like them to be now, but it may be a little more clear when we have all of the primary winners right in front of us. And I've had my eye on B.J.'s campaign. I beleive they can really get the independent vote and maybe even some dems.

If there is a debate between BJ and Price, I hope BJ asks Price where in the Constitution it allows for government funding for "research" at colleges and universities.

Price will blow up at that.

Also, on the Patriot Act, ask Price how he knowingly voted for something that was unconsititutional.

Price will flip out.

He has buttons that can be pushed.

Getting Price angry isn't very difficult. Doing it in a classy and professional manner might just score some big points.

For someone that has been around politics and the political arena for as long as Price has, he is not very well schooled in what government is supposed to do. He actually thinks Congress is a place where tax dollars are collected and then distributed based upon need.

Whoever this price guy is, let's all admit, Mr. Lawson is an impressive speaker, and does well at articulating his ideas at least in the few snippets I've seen of him around the internet.

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I believe about 80% of campaigning is just getting people to like you. What's not to like about this guy? The more Pro-N.C./anti D.C., family-guy, the more people will like him.

It appears that Mr. Lawson knows how to speak to people --- a key item when becoming a politician. Most people would comment "well anyone can speak to people" -- but being able to make them say "Hey I want to vote for this guy!", or "Gee I like how he sounds like Ronald Reagan" to "I'm a Democrat and even I like this guy" is what can make him win this thing.

If we can help get the message out to secure the funding, let's at least TRY and do this.

Also, as far as David Price goes... let's once again remember that he may be tired of campaigning for the seat (he lost it once... had to get it again)... but mostly he's old and is ready to retire.
