A 5.9-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of New Zealand, according to the USGS.
The earthquake, which was at a depth of about 10 km, struck at about 1:56 p.m. Wednesday local time, or 9:56 p.m. Tuesday ET.
The earthquake was centered 571 miles NE of Ngunguru, New Zealand, or 623 miles NE of Auckland.
