I suppose it's a reasonable explanation though that the dead man has the knife in his hands currently and the cops kicked it out of his hands so he wouldn't stab them with it and that's how the knife arrived at the place in the picture where it's labelled.

That makes sense I think. That's probably what happened.

Hard to tell. When its tagged "1" with the card, the knife is down and to the left of the white beverage lid. In the photo prior to evidence tag, you can see the white beverage lid, but its really hard to tell if anything is down and to the left. There appears to be something darker in that location. Could be the knife; could be a shadow. Can't tell due to resolution.
