Get off my grass! Protests erupt in LA after off-duty cop was filmed pulling his GUN and opening fire at a gang of teens in scuffle after they 'walked on his lawn'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4250762/Off-duty-cop-pulls-gun-goes-teen-scuffle.html

Crowds of people gathered on Wednesday night to protest against an off-duty cop who was caught on camera pulling and firing his gun as he scuffled with a 13-year-old outside his home in Anaheim, California.
The protests were sparked after a video that was filmed on Tuesday afternoon emerged showing the confrontation between the off-duty LAPD cop and a large gang of teens who he had apparently accused of walking on his lawn.
The confrontation ends with the officer pulling his gun out and firing a shot that did not hit anyone as the teens flee.
Before that, the officer was filmed struggling with one teen who he accused of threatening to shoot him, then scuffling with the entire group of teens outside his home.

Starts by showing the man pulling at 13-year-old Christian Dorscht
Christian then argues with the off-duty cop, saying the man started the incident by calling a young girl in the group a 'c***', and told her to get off his lawn
The unnamed cop denies doing so, and instead says Christian threatened to shoot him.
The 13-year-old says he told the cop he was going to sue him, not shoot him
Many people in the crowd of about 20 teens are heard telling the cop to let go of Christian
The cop drags Christian towards a hedge, and when his back is against it another boy rushes at him and knocks him over in an attempt to free his friend
The cop manages to hold on, and seconds later he pulls out his gun
After a few moments, a shot is fired and the teens scatter
Christian is still seen on video being pinned to the ground
Police arrive on the scene and eventually take all the teens to the station
Christian and a 15-year-old boy are the only two held and charged, before being released later in the day
After a few minutes in the video, the man was pushed over by two other teens in the group, and shortly after he pulled a gun from his waistband with one hand while still holding onto the 13-year-old.
The incident took place in in Anaheim, California, near Loara High School about 2:40pm.
Protesters on Wednesday night were seen in videos posted on social media shouting, 'whose streets, our streets,' 'don't shoot our kids,' 'shame on you,' and 'no justice, no peace, f*** the police.'
What initially began as peaceful protests eventually gave way to violence, as protesters threw rocks and bottles at officers.
One picture was posted on social media showing the words, 'f*** pigs,' spray-painted across a garage door it was claimed belonged to the officer.
However, the house is not that of the cop in question.
Aerial footage from the scene from KTLA showed the crowd of people, as well as a swarm of police cruisers in the area.
Anaheim police report about 24 arrests for misdemeanor charges including failure to disperse. This included 10 men, 8 women, three boys and three girls.
All are misdemeanor charges for variations of failure to disperse, resisting arrest, and battery on a peace officer.
Late on Wednesday night, the boy's father, Johnny Dorscht, spoke out about the incident.
He also identified his son, the 13-year-old boy in the video who was restrained and almost shot by the off-duty LAPD cop, as Christian Dorscht.
'I'm pretty p***ed off about what happened,' he told the Orange County Weekly.
'You could talk to anybody, my son has very good manners. He does good in school and isn't disrespectful or anything like that.
'We're going to find legal representation and be suing. This is B.S. Even the cops, when they got there, they had all the kids down. They didn't even go after the guy.'
Johnny Dorscht also shared pictures with DailyMail.com showing the bruises his son suffered.
They showed he had a mark above his eyebrow, as well as a series of small bruises along his shoulder and neck.
Christian's mom, Alma Jimenez, also stepped forward on Wednesday night - having earlier refused to identify herself or her son.
Jimenez spoke to the protesters in Anaheim.
'I just want to say how disgusted I am by that individual for the negligence he committed with my son,' she was heard saying in a video posted to her Facebook page.
'My son is alive today, but if he would have not fought for his life along with those other children, he would be in a morgue right now.
'You almost killed my child. Stop shooting our kids. This is my son. He is 13 years old. He was not armed.
'He (the officer) was, he pulled out, he reached for his weapon, he intended to use it.'
Amid the protest - which took place about two blocks from Disneyland - Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait said there will be a 'thorough, impartial' investigation into the incident.
'Like many in the community, I've seen the video and I'm very concerned about what it shows,' he said, according to ABC7.
'Anaheim is committed to a full and impartial investigation. Our city will move forward without delay.'
In the video that sparked the protest, a large group of about 20 teens is seen in the video, as well as the off-duty cop.
During the clip, which lasts about nine minutes, Christian is heard saying that the cop was upset at a girl for walking on his lawn. A video from the incident alleges the cop called the young girl a 'c***t'.

When he then confronted the cop, the altercation got underway, according to the video.
The officer was seen holding the boy around the neck and shoulders in what appeared to be an attempt to restrain him.
'I'm only 13,' Christian is heard saying at one point, as several people in the group of teens are heard saying: 'Let him go'.
At one point, an elderly man with a beard and a crutch is heard saying: 'Hey Kevin.' Later in the video he identified himself as the cop's father while calling 911.
The off-duty cop, who has not been named, was seen with his hands around the top of the boy's jumper
He then was seen as he tried to drag him away from the rest of the group

The confrontation began over ongoing issues with juveniles walking across the officer's property. During the confrontation, a 13 year old male is alleged to have threatened to shoot the off-duty officer, at which time the officer attempted to detain the male until APD arrived.

This led to a physical confrontation between the off-duty officer and several other juveniles. During the confrontation the officer discharged his firearm one time.

The circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm are being investigated by the APD Homicide Detail.

The 13 year old male was booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall for criminal threats and battery. A 15 year old male was arrested for assault and battery and was released to his parents.

Later in the video, he began dragging the boy towards his property - at one point attempting to pull him across the top of a hedge.
Christian is then heard saying: 'He tried to hit me in my nuts. That's like a little p***y move, punch a kid in the nuts.'
The cop then replies: 'Because you've been resisting this whole time.'
But the boy then fires back, saying he wasn't resisting and tries to offer up an explanation.
'No, I wasn't. You tackled me first. I didn't do anything to hurt you,' he said.
'All I said was, 'Respect the girl,' because you said, 'Get out of my property'.'
The cop then is heard claiming the 13-year-old said he was going to shoot him, however the teen quickly responds: 'I didn't say that. Why you lying? I said, 'I'm going to sue you'.'
Moments later in the clip, another boy charges the off-duty cop and knocks him over in an attempt to free his friend.
But the cop does not let go, and instead reaches into his waistband and pulls out his weapon.
Seconds later, a shot rings out and the group of teens quickly run away from the house.
Eventually the off-duty cop was able to drag the boy across a front lawn

They then watch on from a safe distance as the off-duty cop continues to hold down Christian he pulled across the hedge.
The 13-year-old can then be heard saying, 'You shot me, you put a gun to my face,' as the off-duty cop tells the elderly man nearby to call the police.
Later in the video police arrived and arrested Christian, as well as a 15-year-old.
The officer was not arrested.
Christian has since been released, along with the 15-year-old.
Anaheim Police released a statement about the incident on Tuesday.
A man who identified himself as the off-duty cop's father was seen in the video
Police were then filmed on the scene speaking to the off-duty officer

'Two juveniles have been arrested following a physical confrontation during which an off-duty LAPD officer discharged his firearm,' it read.
'Nobody was struck by the gunfire and the Anaheim Police Department Homicide Detail is investigating.
'Officers were called to the area... regarding a physical altercation between a male adult and several male juveniles. While officers were responding, additional information was received the adult was an off-duty LAPD officer, he had discharged his firearm, and was detaining at least one of the juveniles.'
The video, which had been viewed more than 25,000 times, has since been removed from YouTube.
Christian's family started a fundraising page to raise money to cover their legal costs.
His father said any money raised that goes above the legal costs will be donated to charity.
Police are expected to provide an update on Thursday during a press conference.

Holy shit! It's Walter White! I knew he wasn't dead!

Seriously, though, if a regular citizen pulled his gun in this situation, no one would blame him. Obviously this kop escalated things unnecessarily, but this could have been much worse.

So, the video shows what happened AFTER the triggering event, and he didn't pull the gun until he was attacked, he didn't point the gun at any of the others or really the kid he had hold of, and he fired a shot into the ground to scatter the potential attackers. I am seeing molehill here.

Really? Opened fire on the kids? Fake news.

p.s. Get off his private property you disrespectful punks.

Well, I defended him too, but to be fair, they were "getting off his private property". He heard one of the kids insult him and then grabbed the kid and wouldn't let him go.

If he didn't want to escalate the situation, he could have flashed his gun and relaxed on his porch as they left.

I thought him quite restrained...lol. I imagine this has been an ongoing problem with the kids trampling his property and being nuisances in general. I've heard and seen "barely teens" be REALLY aggressive with adults before and then use the I'm only a kid when confronted before. They've been taught this tactic by the media...

I was going to say, "In before the Trump snowflakes defend the cop against the brown menace."

But I see I was too late.

The cop called one of the girls a cunt and told her to get off his grass.

The 13yr old was defending her- the cop grabbed him and said he was threatening him (the kid had said he would sue him). He held on to the kid and would not let him go. The kid kept saying he was hurting him but to no avail.

NONE of the kids were fighting the cop, they were just trying to get the little kid away from him; when he backed into a bush he pulled his gun out as the kids were trying to grab the 13 yr old away from him.

This is the COP'S fault- he escalated it and turned something simple into a war.

Teen siblings involved in altercation with LAPD officer file lawsuits

Lawyers for two teen siblings involved in an altercation with an off-duty LAPD officer filed civil lawsuits against the Anaheim and Los Angeles police departments today, alleging battery, negligence and state civil rights violations, among other claims.

The lawsuits come the day after as many as 300 people demonstrated and at least 23 were arrested after protests broke out over the altercation. Some vandalism was reported in the demonstrations, according to police.

Police say the off-duty officer fired his weapon into the ground during the scuffle on Tuesday, which was caught on video and spread through social media.

A video of part of the incident appears to show the off-duty officer struggling with a 13-year-old boy, clinging to the boy's hooded sweatshirt as he tries to get away.

The officer appears to argue with the boy and several other people who began gathering around. At one point, the officer is shoved over a bush and a person appears to take a swing at his face.

The officer then draws what appears to be a pistol from his waistband and later reportedly fired a shot into the ground.

"The confrontation began over ongoing issues with juveniles walking across the officer's property," Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said in a statement. "During the confrontation, a 13-year-old male is alleged to have threatened to shoot the off-duty officer, at which time the officer attempted to detain the male until [Anaheim police] arrived.”

The boy's mother, however, maintained that her son had said he was going to sue, not shoot, the officer.

Police arrested the 13-year-old on charges of criminal threats and battery and a 15-year-old for assault and battery. Both have since been released.

Police said today they knew of a 2015 report in which the officer had reported youth walking across his lawn. That report did not involve a physical confrontation or the same youth, authorities said.

The officer and the two juveniles arrested have not been named.

The teen siblings who filed suit today are identified in court papers as John Doe and M.S.

“I personally wish the off-duty officer would have awaited our arrival,” Anaheim Police Chief Raul Quezada said at a press conference today.

"As a father and a police chief, I too am disturbed by what I saw on the videos that were posted on the internet ... Having said that, as a police chief, I am charged with enforcing the laws absent my personal feelings," Police Chief Raul Quezada said today. "I thank God that no one was hurt."

Police said they interviewed 18 juveniles after the incident along with the officer's father and others and that they have insufficient evidence at this time to prove any criminal wrongdoing by the officer.

Quezada said his department was close to completing its investigation and would presents its findings to the Orange County District Attorney's Office within the next two weeks. Charges could still be brought against all parties involved, he said.

The step-father of 13-year-old boy is a civilian employee of the Anaheim Police Department, officials said.

Maybe they should just watch the kid's cell phone video that shows the whole thing. I saw it and the cop was definitely a dick.

Cop needs to have the holy fuk beat out of him. No way you're hanging on to my kid that long.
