Kurt Bills is now the Republican nominee for Senate!

If he wants to win in Minnesota, I don't think getting Rand's team will help much with progressives.

In any event, what did this guy run on in the Republican primary? What ARE his stances on the drug war, marriage, etc?

Agreed that they can't run the same strategy as in Kentucky. I just think that Rand's campaign seemed pretty competent in 2010. From what I have seen he may be able to put together a good Minnesota coalition with the competence of Rand's Senate team.

He supported Ron before he even ran for Senate....

That's good news, but what were his stances, specifically? As an example, if he said "get government out of marriage" it would be very easy to explain to liberals why that would be beneficial for gay marriage advocates - much easier than if he defended traditional marriage.

Who is Kurt Bills? What I really want to know is was he a Ron Paul activist in 2007-2008?

Georgia, no he didn't. He only got the endorsement at the convention. Check the article again.

In Minnesota, the party endorses candidates but the losers in that process can decide to contest the election in primary in August (which is an open primary for Democrats and independents to vote in.). The party endorsee gets the full support of state party with all the money and resources which comes with it so Bill will be able to play on even playing field if has to face those two jokers in a primary election.

I believe that all of the candidates agreed to drop out for the candidate who was endorsed. Would seem like pretty sour grapes if they were to carry on, but I would not be surprised.

1. It is true that if Bills doesn't win, the establishment will blame the liberty movement. It's already happening in the Minnesota GOP groups and blogs.

2. The MN GOP has a rule. If candidates seeking endorsement at their convention wish to get access to the delegate lists they must pay $5000 and sign a pledge that they will abide by the endorsement and not run in the primary. If they break that pledge they have to reimburse the party for putting on the convention (~$50k) and receive tons of negative press for lying.

3. Only one of the candidates who sought endorsement didn't sign the pledge. He is Bob Carey, a perennial candidate who has never garnered more than 8% in a primary. So Bills WILL face a primary challenge but it won't require must money and resources to defeat. If Hegseth breaks his promise there would be civil war in the MNGOP. We take our convention endorsements very seriously.

When is Bill's next Moneybomb?

Technically, the primary hasn't happened yet, so I'm assuming there is still a very small chance he will not ultimately be the nominee. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Priority: We need to nationally rally around Kurt Bills like we did for Rand

1) We need a Sub-forum setup

2) We need a moneybomb setup

I think Kentucky may be giving us the blueprint for states. Get a US Senate Seat, and then begin winning the US House seats, as well as state seats...

Let's do the same in Minnesota, this is what we should be doing with our national base. That's a movement!

Agreed. This is an uphill climb, but not impossible.

It sucks the Independence Party is not running a candidate, as it would help us substantially. Just look at Franken's election. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Minnesota,_2008

I agree completely, +Rep, anyone have ideas for a good date for a future MB? Can anyone make a banner, and can we get it at the top of the forums?

If Bills lose the GE against Amy Klummypants, the liberty movement in MN will be hung out to dry for having pushed an "unelectable" candidate. We will never hear the end of how we would have won if only it was Severson or Hegseth.
The numbers will not reflect that because Kurt will give Amy a run for her money, especially if he comes at her on the privacy / foreign policy / PIPA/SOPA stuff. In fact Kurt is the only one who could run a serious race against her and have a chance of winning.

And for what it's worth, Hegseth is CFR.
