Koch brothers prepared to unleash nearly $1bn leading up to 2016 election

What we know:

1. At least one of the two koch brothers stand with us on many libertarian principles, this should be well known at RPF by now.

2. The $889M that they are supposedly spending isn't all being directly funded through one channel to one candidate, they will be donated to many different organizations like or are very similar to Freedomworks, AFP, Club for Growth, etc... whom have the opportunity to use that money as they see fit.

etc is a long list. I won't add the lengthy lists of the Koch brothers’ congressional empire in the House and Senate, bankrolled state politicians, Gubernatorial Election candidates, House Energy and Commerce Committe bankroll and the rest of all of that. That sure is a lot of power for a couple of oligarchs to have just because they are billionaires.

That simply isn't true. And RT is 100% funded and controlled by the communist Russian government. It is literally illegal for them to broadcast criticism of Putin's government.

It is true. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/propaganda?s=t The "news" report that does not contain value statements or details that color the meaning is so rare that it virtually doesn't exist. Loaded language has been the norm in US journalism for 200+years.

IDK, as I'm not a fact-checker unless it's something I'm particularly interested in. I was just responding to angie.

It is understood that the truth do sting a bit. As well, it is expected for some to cry sour grapes or to revert to ad-hominem when they don't like some things being mentioned. I get that. It is a normal human reaction. I'd only ask that if you are going to promote what she is saying with regard to the news that I've shared here in the op as being propaganda then at least take the time to read it prior to running with her meme. That's really all.

Well, they are not allies to the liberals and the Rand haters, I guess. But for those of us who want smaller government with lower taxes and less regulation, they are allies.

RT >>> Fox News/MSNBC/CNN

And with all of this glorification of the Koch brothers, where were they for all 3 of Ron Paul's presidential campaigns?

So we have Bloomberg and Soros influencing our elections all over the place but there is some huge problem with the Koch brothers?

I have a problem with the phenomenon no matter who does it. The merge of corporation and state is fascism. Period.

I don't think that's what Citizen's United case said.... I think the CU case said that corporations could give to PACs and independent expenditures.

As for the Kochs being opposed to mandatory GMO labeling...

Good, so are libertarians. ;)

Do libertarians support the Koch network getting together with Mosanto and penning legislation that specifically voids states rights and then fund a congressman to introduce it? The issue there is far more complex than labeling. They are essentially doing the same thing that we'll see with the TPP. They are attempting to destroy the sovereignty of a state (although domestically in this case) in order to defend themselves from a genuine free market. This is mercantilism....for one...

I don't think that the so called "movement" (what I mean by that are the most active participants who claim political ownership of such a phenomenon) is prepared in any way to fend off a genuine media attack when it comes. And it will come. Have to tighten up. Or something.

They are big picture liberty activists. They tend not to support fringe candidates (unless it is them running) and aren't even known for getting involved in presidential primaries, anyway. If they get involved this time, something I'm not convinced they will do, I suspect it will be somewhat into the primary season when several candidates have dropped out. So if Rand or Walker is one of the last 4 standing and has a good shot at winning, maybe they will get involved.

They have worked against 100s of bad incumbents via issue campaigns over the years. You have to stay within the law.
