I like the theme for the Constitution Day moneybomb and the inclusion of the number of signers as well as a countdown clock this time around. However, this moneybomb clearly could have been promoted better.

For one, the campaign's Twitter feed has remained disturbingly silent on the day of the moneybomb itself, when it should be utilized to promote the moneybomb. Also, in the days leading up to the moneybomb there should be a homepage banner on the campaign website announcing the upcoming moneybomb and asking people to pledge their support as a reminder to donate. Another mistake was not setting a goal for this moneybomb. Setting a goal (especially well in advance) informs the grassroots as to how much promotion they need to do themselves as well as how much money the campaign needs them to donate. Furthermore, to see that the campaign is short of meeting its fundraising goal during the moneybomb provides the motivation and impetus for people to donate.

And perhaps most importantly, is the continued grassroots argument that you keep the ticker up more often like you did with the 2008 campaign. I understand and appreciate the rationale behind not disclosing your fundraising at all times when there is no obligation to do so, as it reveals to your competition (and the media) how your doing regarding fundraising. Nevertheless, keeping the ticker up beyond the 24-hour moneybomb helps to encourage further donations from people who either didn't hear about it or weren't able to donate on that particular day. It also encourages people to continue donating to see the ticker climb, as it's a great morale booster. There's no better demonstration of this than the last moneybomb, where people continued to donate after the moneybomb because the ticker was still up and wanted to see it climb even higher and surpass its goal.

With the end of the quarter on the horizon I ask that you keep the ticker up as the first thing people see on the homepage until the end of September. Not only will it help with the end-of-quarter fundraising push, but will encourage people to donate to the campaign during the upcoming September 22nd Fox News debate.

With this moneybomb on track to be the smallest yet, it is crucial you take these suggestions into account and to keep the ticker up on the campaign website until the end of this quarter to encourage further fundraising.
