Keep calling Harry Reid

My grandmother called harry Reid's office in Vagas and Wahington to tell them how she feels. Anyway a lot of people have been calling him to vote for the bill. So I say to keep calling. Annoy the people till he finally allows it to vote. We need this to pass to one have Ron Paul finally get his bill that he worked on for years to finally make it. Also to finally do to the FED what should of been done years ago.

Keep calling! I just loved how Harry Reid tries talking about raising taxes on the "rich", and all of us not only boo him but instead we talk about auditing the fed. I can already imagine Harry Reid's anger, but he deserves it. Why does he always talk about the "rich", the "rich", the "rich". He keeps talking as if everything would be solved if the rich paid more. What he doesn't understand is that Americans are sick of his class warfare and that he should do something useful like Auditing the Fed!

We need Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) to bring it up and out of committee, then Senator Reid to bring it to the floor of the senate for vote.

I have been contacting Tim Johnson via twitter, as well as all the SD newspapers I could find twitter accounts for. Some others have been emailing/calling the newspapers and Johnson.

BUT, Reid is the one, it's seem, that "vowed" to prevent this from getting to the floor of the senate for vote.

There's several methods Rand can get the Senate to vote on it:

1. Pass it out of the Senate Banking Committee then have Harry Reid bring the bill to the floor. This scenario requires us to pressure Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota first as he is the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

2. Rand can try to attach the bill as an amendment to other bills. This will require the consent of Harry Reid.

3. Rand can get enough Senators to sign a discharge petition and force the Senate to vote on the bill. Rand said he got 16 Senators to sign a discharge petition on his bill to end aid to Pakistan and that is enough to force the Senate to vote on his bill.

The Senate won't have a chance to vote on the Audit the Fed bill if it doesn't get past the Banking Committee (and then Senator Harry Reid's approval).

Last time it didn't make it out of the committee and I'm still waiting to see the minutes from that meeting.

The bill in this Congress is S. 202.

Yea I guess but under Action Item, it should say, contact these Senators and urge them to support S. 202. Asking them about something that didn't happen 3 years ago won't really drive home the point that we want them to support S. 202.

I say just keep calling reid until he gets the bill to a vote. We can try to work around to get other people help get is passed, but is make more sense to try to get Reid to pass the bill.

As you may know, on January 26, 2011, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced S. 202, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, which was referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. If enacted, S. 202 would require a full and thorough audit of the Federal Reserve.

Currently, in addition to an annual audit by private accounting firms, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) conducts a number of reviews each year focusing on the Fed's activities. The Helping Families Save Their Homes Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-22), which was signed into law on May 20, 2009, allows GAO audits of a limited subset of the Fed's emergency activities. Further, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act (Public Law 111-203) removes restrictions on GAO audits, permits GAO audits of emergency actions, and requires disclosure of the identities of borrowers.

As a U.S. Senator, I take my oversight responsibilities very seriously, and I support auditing the Federal Reserve. The U.S. needs tough leadership to ensure that all government agencies are running as efficiently as possible and, when this is not the case, to push for change. Although I am not a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, please be assured I will work with my colleagues to ensure the Fed remains accountable to the American people for its transactions and policies.

Well, looks like the Senator is good for something:

"His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son," Reid said, in reference to George Romney's standard-setting decision to turn over 12 years of tax returns when he ran for president in the late 1960s.

Saying he had "no problem with somebody being really, really wealthy," Reid sat up in his chair a bit before stirring the pot further. A month or so ago, he said, a person who had invested with Bain Capital called his office.

"Harry, he didn't pay any taxes for 10 years," Reid recounted the person as saying.

"He didn't pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that's true? Well, I'm not certain," said Reid. "But obviously he can't release those tax returns. How would it look?

"You guys have said his wealth is $250 million," Reid went on. "Not a chance in the world. It's a lot more than that. I mean, you do pretty well if you don't pay taxes for 10 years when you're making millions and millions of dollars."
