wow, that's a very very good point. i never thought about this, but i agree.

I agree and mentioned a similar point about the benefit of two media events somewhere earlier.


Validus is right to think about worst cases but we need to consider worst from both alternatives.

It would be bad if they chose the weaker launch with the weaker banner and then wasted flight hours chasing the weather for a delicate second banner operation, or abandoned the second, better banner due to bad weather or other SNAFU.

The risk and diversion and use of flight hours for two separate banner operations seems worse than the risk of launching later with two banners.

My understanding is that they have less than a week of flight hours (160) so I think a later launch means later flight time, not less flight time.

Even with very bad weather delays, it would not be terrible for the blimp to launch with both banners on New Year's Day and cruise SC in the first week of January while IA and NH vote (not ideal but not awful).

With moderate weather delays, the blimp should be able to launch with both banners and ride the NC-NH population corridor on its half-week journey (6 hours per day) to the first primary state (and then do the South, hitting the NH-NC corridor again on the way back).

I'd rather a few hundred thousands dollars go wasted than this project make a joke of Ron Paul and humiliate the entire campaign effort. This is about RON PAUL, not the blimp campaign. In launching an incomplete blimp, those in charge of this project would be guilty of exactly what Ron Paul accuses the Republicans of doing with the Iraq war: trying to save face. And in doing so, it could inadvertently hurt Ron Paul's image.

Have some patience and wait a few days if need be. There's no rush anymore.
