Then, after a short initial tour, return to the hanger and fit the second banner then continue to the north.

I realize there are many good opinions and recommendations. The Blimp teams has been trying to make the best decisions at the time with the information available while addressing the concerns and suggestions of Ron Paul supporters... who made this project possible.

We're doing our best in a short period of time. We hope you will understand that we are making the best choices we can and hope they will be for the best. Only time can answer that question and we ask for your continued support as we move forward with the Ron Paul Blimp.

Hey, you know, you have to decide something in the end, and opinions are like a$$holes -- can't make everyone happy. You're doing a good job of keeping an even keel, I know this is stressful.

3. We do not want the story to be about the Blimp when the TeaParty07 should get the lime light on December 16th. We would like to be in Boston, but... well, you know. So, we will be heading for South Carolina (one of the early primary states) to make our presence known there and support the TeaParty07 from overhead in the skys of the Carolinas.

Just to be clear, I fully realize the blimp won't be in Boston on Sunday -- I wasn't tying that together in any way other than as the campaign takes off on its next phase, the blimp could be taking off Sunday, as well.

I thought the limit was 7 knots. The forecast is 7 knots exactly. How is that impossible? Borderline, iffy, and questionable, but not impossible.

Can you be just a little but more specific? Where are you getting this from? The consensus is that at worst it is going to be close.

Man I feel like Katherine is just setting us up for a decision that has already been made. I don't think there is any chance that the 2nd banner will get there in time, they know this, and are planning to leave tomorrow morning.

I really hope someone quotes this post and OWNS me too!! :p

YES, THE BLIMP IS NOT GOING TO BOSTON. IT WILL NOT BE IN BOSTON FOR THE DECEMBER 16, 2007 TEA PARTY. ARE YOU SATISFIED YET?

AND STOP MESSING WITH US ALREADY. NO ONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO USE A COMPUTER AND TYPE COHERENT ENGLISH CAN BE THIS FRICKIN' DENSE.
 
To the Blimp leadership, just wanted to be one of the only ones that actually thanked you. It seems like half this thread was a bunch of crying about this or that, and I just wanted to thank you for getting the blimp off the ground as soon as humanly possible.

I understand that life isn't like the internet, we don't get instant gratification.

This is how I feel as well and thats what my whole "I don't even think there is a second banner" was getting at. Why do things always go from Maybe---->Iffy---->Bad---->Worse---->Impossible with this Blimp stuff on every aspect.

Since the banner takes at least 4 hours to attach we have to make a decision when to start the process. If it only took a couple of minutes we would step outside, check the wind, slap on the banner and go. But if we get started at say 5:00am and the winds increase past the safety tolerance we are stuck in the hanger.

That is what a forecast is for. You are not making any sense. With the logic being used here, it would be perpetually impossible to put the banner on because there is always a risk the wind will be pick up.

The wind is not supposed to increase; it is forecast to be consistently 6-8 knots from early morning to early afternoon. A new forecast will come out in two hours though, so we'll see...

A bit pessimistic, no?

I just don't understand how a reasonable alternative would be to fly with one banner. No one is answering if we would have to pay the same price with only one banner. Why are decisions being made by the advertising company solely?

Launching half-naked 12/14 and getting caught half-naked on TV the next day does not sound appealing.

12/15 TV coverage for a 12/15 launch with both banners would work fine.

The blimp can travel in significantly higher winds than it can exit the hangar in.

We are looking at detailed models for the specific area in Elizabeth City and the experience of the aircrew who are based there. The current models show the wind approaching the threshold levels at about 7:00am and increasing from that time. This may change and we are watching it closely and running the models repeatedly.
