**Katharine (from Ron Paul Blimp) couldn't access blog/Update***

Can we please let the professionals do their job? If anyone here knows so much about blimpology and all that, you should already be at the blimp site volunteering your vast knowlege and expertise instead of sitting here criticizing the ones who are on the ground doing the work.

NO criticism here. Just brainstorming. We all want the blimp to be 100% successful. Allow for discussion my friend.

I'm happy as can be due to the fact people I don't want to have anything to do with are ignoring me. Good riddence in my opinion. The people who are open to people with different opinions will of course read my messages.

The really cool thing is those people that are ignoring me can't read MY opinions and then respond with their own. They don't have a way to respond!

TARZAN: thanks for answering questions and keeping the info flowing. Here are a few direct ones:

1) When does the clock start on the 30 days?
2) I read about wind conditions affecting adding the 2nd banner, but judging by the pics of the first banner being added, isn't this going on indoors?
3) Is the team considering a Sunday launch to coincide with the Tea Party? Seems to me that would be more of a success than launching incomplete tomorrow (of course, that also depends on #1 above).

1. I don't know... but I will pass this along to Katharine so she can post that information on the Blog. Blimp Blog
2. Yes... applying a banner required the hanger or zero wind. Since we are unlikely to find zero wind the decision was made to launch with one banner rather than be stuck in the hanger. (please see earlier posts)
3. We do not want the story to be about the Blimp when the TeaParty07 should get the lime light on December 16th. We would like to be in Boston, but... well, you know. So, we will be heading for South Carolina (one of the early primary states) to make our presence known there and support the TeaParty07 from overhead in the skys of the Carolinas.

2) High wind prevents the blimp from leaving the indoor hangar.

3) I agree that it might be better to launch later with both banners on the maiden flight.

I like this.

It seems (from this poll at least) that most people would rather wait and launch with both banners. What if we put the blimp in the hangar, put the banner on when the banner gets there, and then if we're lucky and the wind is calm enough to get it back out of the hangar, then launch it, and if it's not, just wait until it is?

We are already contacting Ron Paul supporter groups to let them know the Blimp is coming. They have already begun letting their members know and maning arrangements. There has been quite a bit of pressure to get the Blimp airborne and we have been making every effort to do so.

The owner of the banner company took it upon himself to attempt to drive the second banner to the Blimp. He did this while a blizzard (as I have heard it described) decended across his path. The Blimp team has felt the pressure and have been doing all they can to get the Blimp airborne. Based on that, and other considerations, it was decided to launch tomorrow. Then, after a short initial tour, return to the hanger and fit the second banner then continue to the north.

I realize there are many good opinions and recommendations. The Blimp teams has been trying to make the best decisions at the time with the information available while addressing the concerns and suggestions of Ron Paul supporters... who made this project possible.

We're doing our best in a short period of time. We hope you will understand that we are making the best choices we can and hope they will be for the best. Only time can answer that question and we ask for your continued support as we move forward with the Ron Paul Blimp.

I read that the official decision was not going to be made until tomorrow. Is there any chance the blimp will be there for the Tea Party?

The Blimp team is awesome. They deserve real props for putting this together on the fly.

One banner just screams amateur hour and is inefficient.

"Hey mom look, there is a blimp in the sky that isn't advertising anything!"

"That is nice Tommy."

I agree. The blimp team is awesome. They have done a lot of work in a very short period of time. We should all be thankful for all the work they have done.

Before you vote...
Keep in mind that we will also be getting television coverage on December 15th (as well as other media coverage) to lead into the TeaParty07.

Please consider as well as you vote on that poll.

Media Perspective

Given that Boston is not happening due to the weather, then having the blimp flying on Sunday to "support the tea party" is not very tangible from a news perspective.

Rather, the media will be telling the results of the TeaParty07 all day long on Monday. Having the blimp flying somewhere in convenient proximity to a lot of TV cameras on Monday to support those news stories about the "high flying" Ron Paul campaign seems to me that it should be the topmost objective now.

I am not sure how this perspective impacts the planning at this point, but I hope the point is well taken. A fully decked out blimp flying on Monday near a major city like Washington D.C is likely to provide the best bang for the buck now.

What are you talking about? What is going on? As if you're just casually saying the blimp will fly with one banner for 5 days LOL. If the 2nd banner gets there at 4am tomorrow morning, take 5 hours to put it on and then head out. The wind conditions appear to be fine for tomorrow. Leaving with one banner is going to COST us money won't it, as efficiency goes down?

Is the 2nd banner not going to get there tonight or something?

The winds look like they are going to make getting out of the hangar after 6-7am Friday impossible.

Tarzan,

So is it official that the blimp will not be going to Boston? Has the final decision been made? I heard that it was not going to be made until tomorrow.
