Interesting stats. You joined 12/4 and every one of your 6 posts have been about the blimp. So, which paid position do you hold within Trevor's blimp company?

Winds at Elizabeth City are forecast to be 8kts at 7am Friday and 7kts at Noon. Obviously 8 is more than 7 but I think it is too close to rule it out at this stage. I do not see a prediction of increasing wind during the day that you are talking about.
 
I love how the title suggets a problem with the blog and updates, yet how the Blimp will be delayed MORE days is described as just another problem with the blimp. This is getting very frustrating....what happened to Monday? haha

There are only two hangers large enough to accommodate the Blimp... The home base in Elizabeth City and in Lakehurst, NJ. Lakehurst is only available for emergencies landings.

The plan is to be with the folks in the Carolinas during the TeaParty07 events in Boston and around the country. Then head north toward the densely populated area from DC to Boston. A stop is scheduled to allow the second banner to be applied while en route. We still have to be mindful of wind conditions and the pilots and meteorologist are watching this closely. We will not be able to safely enter and exit the hanger if wind conditions are not favorable.

 
I find it odd that eight mile per hour wind can stop them from taking this blimp out of the hangar. I could understand higher wind, but eight mile per hour wind is nothing.

Well its a good thing you're not a fucking blimp technician in Elizabeth City, then, because we'd have a fucked damaged blimp!

Yes... the plan is to have the Blimp out of the hanger before 7:00am. This is why we have set a decision time of 2:00am. If we do not have the second banner in hand we will not attempt to mount it and risk being unable to leave the hanger for a day or more.

If we launch with one banner the Blimp will make its initial run then return on Monday to have the second banner attached... weather and wind permitting.

8mph is the high end prediction too. 7 knots = just over 8mph.

I'm so confused. I wish some questions would be answered.

You are wrong about that. When you are inserting and removing a huge blimp with a huge surface area into a hangar that is only slightly bigger than it is, I can see how wind above 8 knots would definitely be real problem.

I'm using the terminal airport forecast for ECG airport which says 7 to 8 knots during the first half of the day. Obviously it's right on the edge.

If they can launch on Monday with both banners, why not do that?

Otherwise, they are flying for 3 days with 1 banner and then re-entering the hangar to mount the other banner, where they could be trapped by wind indefinitely.

Please correct me if I misunderstood.

HEY TARZAN...

Is the decision time of 2:00am for the guys coming with the second banner?
 
The wind usually dies as the sunsets for at least an hour. I know this because I fly RC planes. Get the second banner and get the blimp in the air.
 
With only one banner on the blimp the captain could do a do-si-do up and down the East coast to show it off :o.
