is this a strong R district? Is the incumbent retiring?

A little background info would be nice.

It's a pretty Republican district (R +12 on the Cook Partisan Index) but I assume she's running as a member of the Libertarian Party (says she's been registered as one since 1994 on Wikipedia)? So I highly doubt victory is possible and I wouldn't focus on this race for 2012, although obviously if you live in VA-6, by all means vote for her.

Yeah, according to the FEC she saw fit to donate to Michael Badnarik's campaign in 2004, but not Dr. Paul's in 2008. Best of luck to her, but libertarians running in the republican party is where it is at.

Who made the Facebook page? It says here affiliation is Republican.

edit: She says she's running in the GOP primary in this video @00:35:

Excellent! I used to live in that district. We actually had a forum member (stbain) run as a Libertarian in this district in 2010 and he drew nearly 10% of the vote - a strong showing against a 9-term incumbent!

Here is her opponent....he has a lot of issues on his voting record that, if properly exposed, aren't going to sit well with the very conservative voters in that district: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Goodlatte

Third party. LOL. When will people learn?

Wow, if Karen can get in that would be amazing. She is awesome. Double-kick ass woman tag-team between Mary Ruwart and Karen K. Sounds like a fun time ha! (I hope Mary decides to eventually run as either R or D...really, third parties and independent runs are just too much hassle.)

You were saying?

With but one exception, Ron Paul has been running as a Republican for 30 years. He often references his discussion with Congressman Larry McDonald before he ran for Congress the very first time, when McDonald advised him to run in whichever party he could WIN in. The rest is history.

You were saying?

Karen Kwiatkowski kicks ass - her articles at LRC are among my favorites. This is really great news - I'm starting to dig this 'kill it from the inside' approach. ;)
