Congress voted to raise the debt ceiling by more than $300 billion this Sunday, May 19. Funny (or not), it didn't even make the news.

A few months ago, Congress passed and the President signed into law the misleadingly titled No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013. I voted no.

As the law instructs, the debt ceiling was suspended until May 19 and then automatically raised by the amount of borrowing between the time of the bill's signing and May 18—more than $300 billion. And, as the law's fine print makes clear, every Member of Congress will continue to be paid, even though Congress still has no budget. Perhaps it should have been titled No Budget, Still Paid, Debt Limit Raised.

I want you to know what's really going on in Congress. That's why I use Facebook to explain every vote on the House floor. Thanks for liking and sharing my Page and my posts. Together, we'll hold Congress accountable.

The post has been shared over 1,000 times in less than an hour, which is pretty impressive given Amash doesn't have that many likes.

Here are the House and Senate roll call votes.

Well the lying and deception has really gone to an extreme at this point. This government is acting very desperate lately. This is reminding me of the Soviet Union collapse. In which the rest of the world is seeing a more clear perspective of our reality, while we, those of us keeping an eye on things, are so used to this bullshit at this point, that we just think its more of the same, when it is clearly becoming much more desperate in language and actions going on at all levels of government, trying to keep this system running.

Things really are at a break point it seems by watching the paradigm of left/right persist with voters, yet the paradigm diminishes amongst the elected office holders. Look at those roll call votes.

This is why I love Justin Amash, I think he needs to be far more aggressive but the transparency he has shown in the past months is invaluable. Props to Mr. Amash

liked and shared.

I didn't even know that. Good for Justin. This is what Ron did -- let us know when they were slipping stuff by us.

This is the kind of thing that drives them crazy.

Good for Justin.

Why is he so aggressive online but the opposite in real life !

Sooner or later he'll start finding his voice. I can't wait.

Liked, shared, and re-tweeted!!

The FB post is approaching 2,000 shares, and I think this is the first post I've ever seen on FB that has more "shares" than "likes!" (Must be a lot of people re-sharing it who don't even "like" his page, and are just seeing the post because a friend shared it.)

Sooner or later they will just abolish the debt ceiling.

They're already passing gimicky acts like No budget No pay and Full faith and credit which just raise it automatically.

Maybe Mike Kelly and Pete King will agree with Jack Lew again that they have "no choice" to raise it a few trillion... more debt please: to infinity and beyond!
