Just voted for Ron Paul...

So pardon my ignorance, but why doesn't the Dem votes count for Dems?

Michigan, both state parties, decided to move up the primary to get more exposure. the National parties, Dem and Rep, penalized them for jumping ahead of super Tuesday. The Dems took away all delegates to the National convention, and most candidates (except hillary dodd and kucinich) pulled their names off the ballot. The republicans just took away half our delegates.

I was just watching our local news and they said they expect 20% turn out. They only covered the election for maaaaaybe 10 mins and then jumped over to the International Auto Show in Detroit! They showed clips of Romney speaking in Grand Rapids, Huckabee in Warren, and McCain...somewhere (I tend to block him out). That was it.

Just voted for Paul in Oakland county, 26th preceint. I was the only one in there for the 26th and 27th. In 26th, 88 votes had been cast (rep+dem) at 12:15.

I also just heard on one news report that was in 2 districts in Detroit. Each had cast only a half-dozen votes each and expected extremely low turnout.

Physically attacking and screaming at non-Paul supporters works best I find.

Voted at 12:30. I was the 33rd voter which is pretty low. by now in a big election that should be at around a hundred.
GET out the VOTE!!

just called my friend to remind him to vote. he picks up the phone and says "I'm voting right now, i'll call you later."

it figures that romney is on top of the ballot. is it supposed to be like home field advantage like in football or something? Don't some states have a rotation of what order the candidates are in. that would seem the most fair way to do it.

Most places it is random. I can see this being heavily influenced by the state GOP leadership though. I am sure that is decidedly in Mitts Pocket. WE desperately need a good showing in MI. Win or loose we also need committed delegates. I see the GOP convention as being a brokered one. How are MI delegates selected?

I voted at about 9am in Ann Arbor. The poll workers wouldn't tell me if the Dems had delegates or not (I asked to see if I could tell Dems to ask them). There were sample ballots so you could see Obama and Edwards were missing on the Dem ballot. Ron Paul was listed 1st on the R ballot. :)

My polling place has two precincts at it and typically the most voters of any polling place in Ann Arbor. It is also almost entirely Dem, and the Iraq war is a big issue. So, from 11 to 2 I stood outside the polling place with a homemade sign saying "Bring Our Troops Home Now. Vote Ron Paul Republican. Notes: The Democrats don't have any delegates. Obama and Edwards aren't on the ballot. Ensure two anti-war cnadidates in November: Vote Ron Paul." I got at least two people to vote for me (one talked with me about it beforehand, the other gave no indication he had seen me until he walked by and said, "Well, I did it. That's the first Republican I've voted for since Reagan.") I also made friends with the two women collecting signitures (one for a Michigan constitutional ammendment for universal healthcare, the other to get Rep. John Dingell on the August primary ballot).

Anyway, I had to come home to be with our three young kids so my wife could go to work. I stuck my sign in the ground so it can keep speaking, though.

[Edit] It was cold standing outside for 3 hours. The only candidate signs were the two I put out for Ron Paul and one saying "Draft Gore. Vote Uncommited."
