Just heard on my local news that YOUNG FAMILIES are lining out the doors...

its a generational war, the masses of young are ready to overthrow the baby boomer rule once and for all.

Hell, I'm a baby-boomer and *I* want the baby boomers out of power. Perhaps you X'rs & Y'rs can do a better job than my generation has.

Good.
Boomers have had the presidency for 2 presidents now. One was impeached and the other one should be.

I'd rather they vote for Ron though (hes not a boomer either) :D

more likely to mirror what happened in Iowa. Not to be a downer, but the young people are being more inspired by Obama's delivery and are rallying behind him in the perception that he is kicking the old power elite (hillary) out of washington.

No, they're more inspired by his massive media coverage.

I was an Obama supporter once; I know plenty of people who were; we all jumped ship after we found the real candidate for change.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me what the Obama appeal is? He's young? So what? He's black? So what? I'm voting ideas, not race and the young people should as well...

What gives? I even went to his web site to see what all the fuss was about and all I saw were promises to install more government handout programs. WTF?

Obama is the flavor of the month via the media. They have the power. They (or their handlers) have chosen Obama to be the d candidate. They may have chosen him to be our next president.

Well, sorry to hijack the thread and make it about Obama, but it seems based on your responses that people are voting for him because:

1) He's young and black and attractive:
2) He says he's for change:
3) The media loves him

Not one of these mentions issues affecting us all. Frankly, sometimes I wish certain people didn't have the right to vote... I know that's a horrible thing to say, but someone voting for someone because they're cute or trendy is hurting the country. I guess it's their right to vote the Ignorance Ticket. Okay, off the soap box.

My only request of Dr. Paul is for him to make himself a bit more serious when he addresses the press. He's totally likable, but just not firm enough. I posted this yesterday, but in regards to the income tax, for example ... make that point be serious, not just a joke that everyone would love it not to pay taxes. He's just SOOOOOOOOOOO laid back. Even Leno said it, he should be kicking someone's 'you know what' in response to Fox News. He had the opportunity to address it several times, but needed to do it with a LOT more attitude. Just my opinion anyway.

it is my opinion that those young people will only be converted once they realize who the real change candidate is. Thats not going to happen with the R tag.

if this trend continues, it won't matter if we win the Repub candidacy. We will need to declare an independent run, dispel these rumors of racism, and do a better job of converting the youth vote over the summer.

I am starting to think the same thing. It is not a matter of me not thinking he can win the Republican nomination or not, it is that the neocons have so fked up the Republican name TONS of people won't vote for one.

I have the same thoughts quite often

The longer he stays in the republican primaries, the better... running as an indy usually gets people labeled a "loon" even more so than we are now. Better he stay in the race until the last minute, then declare his independent run for the white house.

Obama's appeal comes from the fact that people see him as being honest.

Most people you talk to say that there are two honest candidates. Ron Paul and Obama. ( Because they don't know about Dennis...)

And I agree. Out of everyone besides Ron and Dennis, Obama looks to be the most honest. Also, he is a great speaker. He's young, good looking and healthy.

Also, he says things like "I won't have people like Dick Cheney sitting at my table, helping me with decisions. I"ll have college professors and scientists. )

I am all for Ron Paul, but Obama isn't the most horrible candidate the U.S has had, not by a long shot. I can see why people like him. I respect him a lot.

I agree with this sentiment. Out of all the candidates, Ron Paul is myc FIRST choice...but if we are looking at ANY_OTHER_REPUB vs. Obama I would pick Obama (assuming Ron Paul doesnt run Independant). Sure Obama is not going to fix the economy nor does he have strong libertarian principles, but he has only been in Washington for 2 years...not long enough to corrupt him.

Voting for Obama is like being bisexual. It's very trendy.

Pete

lol.. pretty funny.

College kids, in general, are stupid for being supposedly so "smart". They don't actually research anything, or they believe that socialist ideas work. Not all of them, mind you, but a majority of them (well, a minority and the other idiots that just follow the band wagon jump on).

I am one myself, but I also have more experience and am a bit older than my peers.

(22year old college freshman... and a veteran so the Paul issues hit home for me..)

You think that isn't long enough... but who's to say he wasn't groomed for the position (ala manchurian candidate?)

I doubt Obama will become POTUS. Some event will occur in the meantime where foreign policy experience matters, and people will want a steady hand. I can just feel it. This country will be rocked by something in the near future. Can anyone actually envision Obama in the WH? With that wife? I can't. Either he gets derailed by exposing the racist attitudes of his church or some "revelation" sinks him or some major event happens.

first of all Obama - blech!

I mean the guy voted to renew the Patriot Act and has voted for every spending bill for the war, that tells me everything I need to know about him. As much as I hate to ever agree with anything that Hillary Clinton ever thinks, what's up with the kid glove treatment for Obama. I mean really, would any other candidate who admitted using cocaine in his biography ever get such a free pass?

As far as an independent run for Ron, I don't think he should bother. An independent has little chance of winning an election, the closest in recent history was Perot and he garnered what, 20 some percent? It's a waste of time, effort and resources.

I have to laugh. Voting for OBAMA is Just like voting for any of the other republicans OR dems.

Don't you realize the agenda is ALL the same???

Shit, Obama's wife is on the board of directors for the CFR.. He has the CFR policy advisors. This war will continue and expand. Our borders will melt away and we will form the NAU.

Listen, Obama does ALOT of talking - but nothing else. He is a car salesman. If you are taken in by that then we are truly doomed. For if you want Ron Paul to win and then move into Obama is such a contradiction.

OBAMA IS A HACK. NOTHING WILL CHANGE WITH HIM.

Ron Paul can garner better than 20% - and I think it's the point of sending the message that there is a significant and growing number of people who are sick and tired of politics as usual in Washington. NOT to run could send the opposite message.
