I thought the whole system was kinda screwy.
First, they didn't have me in their database either (as I am a first time voter but reged in early Dec). I had brought my Kansas Registration Card along with picture ID, and a very nice lady there in charge said I was good to go.
She then gave out Red paper stickers and said "You can't cast your vote without this sticker".
I inquired, "What good is this sticker? Would we all be voting on electronic vending machines, or by paper ballot?"
She replied, "Oh no, this is much better then those machines." and quickly sent me on my way.
I then found out, that once I entered the building, I could not leave, and if I did leave (ie: to walk outside to have a smoke, since it's almost a capital offense to smoke inside anymore), I could not re-enter and thereby lost my vote! Who makes up these rules and what country do I live in again?
So, after about 2 hours (without a smoke I might add), and being corraled around like cattle, they had us all single-file lined towards 4 ballot boxes for roughly 4000 people. The ballets were simple paper cards with the canidates names, that you place a check mark next to. You then place your sticker, on the ballot and place it in the box.
However, there's no way for me now to go back and prove how I voted.
Shouldn't each vote have the name, address, and social securitry number for each person voting, on the ballot? Like a legal document? Isn't my vote for the Republic Candidate, in written form, a legal document?
I'm confused.
Maybe it was because Kansas hasn't had a caucaus in 20 years. But the more I think about it, the less I like the system. It seems to be engineered for fraud.
