Johnson Fox news poll 12, RCP average 9

Johnson is consistently showing he will take in as many or more democrat voters than republicans.

See also this poll, which reported that out of an 11% showing Johnson took 6 points from Clinton and 5 points from trump.

Good point. With Johnson taking from both Trump and Clinton in roughly equal numbers, neither side can legitimately call Gary a spoiler. However, I'll point out that despite the fact that Perot's 1992 campaign drew equally from both parties that didn't stop George H.W. Bush fans from calling Ross Perot a "spoiler" who "caused Clinton to win" that year. Expect that nonsense from the Trumpkins, too.

Exciting. I just hope he gets there and doesn't embarrass us.

Yeah same here.. He is gaffe-prone but if he maintains and doesn't screw up, he could look very good by contrast in a debate with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump..

So , this means Ron Paul would have been at 15 to 20 percent ?

In 2008, maybe, when there was disenfranchisement and no incumbent on both sides. Hard to say what would've happened in 2012. Bernie didn't exist then either, which is where Johnson's polling is probably coming from. It also remains to be seen what happens when Sanders tries to whip his supports in line behind Hillary.

Ron Paul did a heck of a lot better than that...

...with everyone but his own party, who were too stupid to see how desperately they needed him to win.

Exactly. Everyone seems to forget that in a head-to-head match-up with Obama, Ron Paul won. Repeatedly.

It was the GOP establishment and the media that kept foisting Romney on Republicans.

But some of us still remember. Like you, Tulsa. Thanks for remembering.

Ron would easily poll those numbers and imo would be a lock for the debates. Obviously easier said than done but Trump and Hillary are hated that much and Ron is one of the few that could attract Bernie voters, Cruz voters, Trump voters, independents, youth vote and even some of the moderate Republicans. Especially if this was the Ron of a few years ago.
