John Tate on Maine, Moneybomb

This decision isn't made by Paul. It's made by the tech people and fundraising professionals. I agree that they should consider it. I sent a suggestion on the campaign site, did you?

I emailed Doug Wead - but I figure, the more emails he gets on a particular subject, the more likely he'll be to pass it along (assuming the subject/comments/suggestions = valid)

$5 million is doable. But we need to stop promoting it on the computer, we've exhausted the diehard Internet community to hell and back. We need to do what we do when we acquire votes: take to the streets with information.

If the support is out there to win the nomination, the support is out there to raise five million dollars.

I will be blunt. I know that some might interpret this as trolling but it is simple truth and it is written with best intentions:

I am member of RPF and didnt get email about moneybomb= FAIL
I am member of dailypaul and didnt get email about moneybomb= FAIL
I am member of Ron Paul facebook group and didnt get email about moneybomb= FAIL

There are more than a million people who are not contacted about moneybomb=FAIL.

In politics you need to kiss peoples asses and do all the work for them. Dont expect that potential donors just do all the work for them selfs. They need to be contacted, asked, complimented and pushed into donating.

Agreed. Massive FAIL.

That's why I think the campaign needs to break this down to a specific dollar amount per donor (or a matrix of dollar amounts that enable us to reach whatever their goal is) so that people can see that their donation of $25 can make a real difference when combined with everyone elses.

Examples:

  • If 100,000 people give $25, we'll raise $2.5million (100,000 X $25)

  • If 75,000 people give $25 and 25,000 give $50, we'll raise $3.125million (75,000 X $25 +25,000 X $50)

  • If 100,000 people give $50, we'll raise $5million
Adding a people counter to the ticker would help as well. This data needs to be displayed in real-time, just like the donation total.

Yes Yes Yes. They need to push hard for 100k $50 donors - and have the people counter!

Just wanted to top this in light of the donation email I just received from the campaign which reads:
Dear xxx,

With only hours remaining in this Money Bomb, we are just $209,000 short of our goal of raising $2 million by midnight.

There are just two weeks remaining until Super Tuesday, where over 400 delegates will be awarded, and my campaign needs every resource available to get out the vote in the ten states that head to the polls on March 6.

My staff has crunched the numbers, and I need 22 liberty activists in New York to chip in $25 - or more if you can afford it - in order to reach $2 million by midnight.

If you have already contributed to this Money Bomb, thank you. But I ask that you dig deep one last time and donate whatever you can afford to help my campaign finish strong on Super Tuesday.

If you have not yet contributed, please do so right away. This is your best opportunity to help my campaign implement the voter contact programs that will allow me to acquire delegates on March 6.

Campaign = Listening! :)

Major props to John Tate (or whoever wrote up this email) for being willing to test new/different approaches (he also sent out a very short, to the point email yesterday).
  • I especially dig how they improved upon my suggestion by shrinking the "we need x people" number down even further by segmenting donors into the states they live in. That cuts 25,000 donors all the way down just 500 needed per state. Genius!
  • I'd love to see what their conversion rate was on this email compared to their more standard 'direct mail style' emails. Of course, I love to see them take this approach even further by creating 'tickers' for all 50 states that count ups each unique donor within each unique state.
That said, the campaign seems to have an entirely different energy right now compared to only 2 short weeks ago. Since Thursday of last week, they've been on an absolute tear... it's awesome.

Now all we need are 1 or 2 formal speeches before Super Tuesday and we'll be firing on all cylinders

The plan?

You're asking for the plan?

John Tate is the president of the entity to which all these money will go after the campaign folds.
The plan is to get enough cash for payroll after this is over.

Paul's campaign sucks. That a fact. Most candidates would have fired them by now and changed things up a bit.
But, that aint gonna happen as the principals have a conflict of interest...

I wonder if Benton, Tate, Matt ans the other employees (on leave of absence) of Campaign for Liberty would be willing to renounce any of the leftover scraps once the campaign folds.

I doubt it.

I for one am organizing locally and not sending any more money to 'national' or C4L temporary or whatever it is (and I am a 30+ year supporter) ...
