John Tate Email: Threatens chaos at the convention

The efforts by the party could very well push a very public media confrontation for 3rd party run. A 3rd party run and disenfranchising the needed Republican voters would very likely draw enough votes away from Romney to ensure a loss.

Why therefore create such a scenario. Romney supporters should be demanding answers from the Romney campaign.

You remember the Rally for the Republic and those big screens up behind Ron? I wonder if they could show the delegate struggle videos for Louisiana, Oregon, Missouri, in front of the 90 media outlets?

I wonder how the crack sounds and Hegwig yelling (the one whose fingers were broken) would sound on the amplifiers at Sun Stadium? And I apologize if his name isn't Hedwig. I think that was Harry Potter's owl. But it is similar.

They're already attempting this at the state levels. I don't know how much bigger it could get than that. Are they expecting Rent-A-Cops down in Tampa to break everyone's fingers and hips and then make up some lie to have Paul delegation arrested? (I wouldn't put it passed them.) I mean, if the official campaign hasn't gotten serious about fighting this garbage until now, then what were they expecting? Maybe the campaign thought that if they just sat back and played nice the RNC would consider it harmless and throw 'em a bone in Tampa, like a prime time speaking slot or something. Now that its looking like they want to shut us out completely, RonPaul2012/C4L is scrambling to keep their foot in the door.

They won't be rent-a-cops, they will be the real deal: Secret Service, alphabet agencies, local police, state police tactical units and possibly National Guardsmen. They won't harass and break bones, they will shoot to kill. The only time more govt. officials will be in the same room is during State of the Union address. If some group took out the RNC and the DNC, that takes out the Legislative branch, and more importantly, about 9/10 of the line of Presidential succession (2 or 3 of them will be inconspicuously absent).

The Campaign has a strategy- whether or not everyone agrees with it, that's another story. But what they've been doing is exactly how they planned to do it since they decided they weren't going to keep Romney form getting 1144 votes. Ron Paul said so himself the day he guest hosted the CNBC morning show several months ago- he would run the campaign in a 'modified way'.

It is unfortunate and frustrating that they can't say what's really going on in their emails, but how many seconds go by from the time they send an email before it is posted online for the world to see?

Yes I am being picky....good write up though

Multiple email is still email.....it is not emails...

when you pick up multiple mail pieces from your mailbox do you call it mails?

I laugh when reporters do this wrong.....

I'm confused. Over the weekend Jesse Benton says RP wants to take a non-confrontational tone and won't seek to be nominated and yet here John Tate says he wants to fight.

Did they take this line today because persons were upset as what Benton said?

"We will stand up and fight for all of Ron Paul’s delegates and/or alternates in these four states – and we will not back down."

I hope they do too. But we will hold this state up as an example about supposedly "non-confrontational." Apparently someone in the campaign disagrees.

The kid gloves need to come off. We mean business, its about time the campaign start acting like it. We need to silence any type of Tregvi Olsen and Benton like statements.

What kind of real preparations to cause chaos are people doing? I hear a ton of whining about Bentons statements, as if they mattered at all. And there's a difference between getting delegates seated and seeking to be nominated. Ron Paul does want the delegates seated, but is not necessarily actively seeking to be nominated.

There is a difference between seeking the nomination for Ron, and fighting for the duly elected delegates to be credentialed and seated. Benton's statement and this email are not really contradictory.

My view would be to ignore Jesse, because the important thing is to get our delegates seated. At that point they can fight for what they believe in, and if they want to use Ron's plurality in 5+ states to nominate him from the floor, that is their prerogative as delegates.

It's hard to know whether Ron himself would really prefer not to have this happen, but all through the campaign he seemed to take the view that we should work the process, fairly and peacefully, but we should work to it. I am sure he even mentioned having a plurality in 5+ states and the effect that could have (in a positive way).

It's messy because I think what Ron himself is concerned about is for us to be seen to be defying the will of the majority of the convention, even if it is in line with the rules. I think Ron is happy for us to aggressively fight for the rights of our delegates, he just doesn't want us to try to aggressively force him on the convention.

The truth is, as tough a task as it is, when it comes to nominating Ron, we will have to "win them over", not just try to "roll them over".

Ron Paul does want the delegates seated, but is not necessarily actively seeking to be nominated.

He never dropped out of the race so he is still seeking to be nominated.

Benton or the reporter who wrote that article was just wrong about that.

Good point. I had forgotten about that. Ron never suspended the campaign, only the "campaigning". All the others that suspended actually stated they were suspending their campaigns. Ron never did that.

They want us to fight for delegate credentials, but stay in line with the establishment by letting Romney take the nomination with ease. Give me a break... This Email isn't about fighting at the convention for what we believe in against Romney, but instead simply fighting for the delegates themselves.

^^^^^^^ Eisenhower's post
Not sure why he would think fighting to get delegates seated will lead to docile delegates, but whatever. Anybody that has to fight for their seat isn't going to sit down and shut up on command thereafter.

Yea I think people feel like they're being tugged around a bit if they are going by anything the campaign is putting out. It has been quite schizophrenic. As far as I'm concerned, we're pushing for everything, including nomination. Otherwise, why keep asking us for money and such?
