I decided to post these because the issue of Christian economics is popping up on the forum. John Robbins was Ron Paul's chief of staff and one of his economic advisors in the 80's. John was a student of the late Austrian economist Hans Sennholz (who was a student of Mises). I can't tell you how much I have learned from these lectures. If anyone wants to know exactly how the Scripture teaches free market economics, please enjoy. Ron called John "one of the most stalwart defenders of freedom I've ever known".

Here are two more lectures that deal mostly with banking. They are very good:

Just started to listen to these. Very good so far!

Are there any materials for this course available anywhere on the website? I checked but didn't see any but didn't know if I just missed it.

The study of the logic of choice. Heh. Go figger.

Now he did mention Plato and Aristotle in the same breath regarding their view of economics (in the home) and you know how I feel about these two which is beside the point, I suppose. We have discussed them elsewhere. They both thought differently regarding the role of the "government" in relation to the individual but placed into context together they provide an intellectually respectable justification for a corrupt social order. During the times of these two they were both comfortable in a slave society. They offered justification for oppression. They served tyrants and taught alienation of the body from the mind. They separated thought from matter. They divorced the Earth from the heavens.

But anyhow, definitely worth a listen for people, I would agree. I'll try to listen to them myself.

What's a "figger"?

One of those quirks I picked up from grandpap. You know? Like "Oh yeah? Let's hear it then" kind of things. Basically a willingness to listen yet reserved on semantics. Go figger, I assume, was just short speak for Go figure.

In this case it's economics defined (study of the logic of choice) as Robbins briefly hypothesized in the one lecture that I have actually listened to since S_F shared the series. So, I was like "oh yeah? Go figger. Let's hear it."

Christian economics? I don't understand the concept. Jesus wanted to separate his message from economics. "Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar and give to God that which is God's". Thew the money lenders out of the temple. In Genesis when Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden he said they would have to always toil. The Bible does not favor any particular form of economics over another.
