John Kasich calls out Donald Trump's '$1.8 billion worth of free media'

Kasich told Chuck Todd on NBC’s Meet the Press that with a less-crowded field, voters are starting to hear his message and platform. But he said Trump had the market cornered on media coverage without spending a dime.

"Guess what? In the grassroots, people are getting it," Kasich said in a pre-taped interview for the March 20, 2016, show. "Now, they didn't get it because, frankly you put me on the tube a lot, but Trump got, you know, $1.8 billion worth of free media. I got, like, none. Okay?"

Trump earned his coverage by being better at the media than Kasich is, one of the skills of a successful politician - so what does he want - socialized media? It's been tried. And Kasich can't win the nomination, so why would the media cover him? Cruz is nominally in the running, but will be out - so soon only Trump and Hillary articles will appear.

I would like to get rid of political polling. The media focus on the candidate with the perceived lead, and that was trump. There is an election law, equal time law, but in order to enforce, one of the candidates would have to sue the media companies, that'll never go well.

It's a bad law. Media coverage a lot of times has more to do with skill at promotion than anything else. Trump's entire business has focused on that a long time.

I however, do not think that one person being better at something than someone else is unfair.

Kasich is being a bit of a cry-baby, he should be calling out the media over the Trump coverage, since they are voluntarily giving it to him in droves. There was ample time to deal with this problem when Trump first declared his candidacy, but milquetoast weaklings like Kasich were too busy being "above the fray" to do or say anything about it.

I don't understand Kasich's motives for continuing. He is either lying about not wanting the VP/cabinet spot for Trump or Cruz, or is truly delusional to think he'd win at a brokered convention. It's mathematically impossible for him to catch up in delegates. He probably won't win a single state except Ohio. He is a very liberal Republican and talks more like a Dem than Huntsman did last time.

Why is he running? The only other explanation is he's really there to carve delegates off Trump/Cruz and cause a brokered convention for some other reward from the elite. But you'd think Rubio and Jeb would've stayed in for the same reason. I don't get Kasich.

The media was begging to follow Huntsman and Kasich but there were too boring among other issues.
